I sure am.   The doctor at GW said they will start fitting in September.   I can't wait!

Does anyone know if there will be any opportunity to see this new device/technology at the ANA conference this summer?

Not sure if the exhibitors at the Symposium are all finalized or not (someone at National would know).  However, I hope Sonitus is smart and has someone there because a large portion of the attendees have hearing deficits in one ear only ...... certainly a good place to get the advertising word out.

CNY,
I addressed your question to Sonitus, and here it is the answer: "Right now we are not planning to be there. I'll look into it though and see if it's something we should consider for the future." (Jason Shelton).

All best,
Gloria

That's too bad.   They are missing a great opportunity.   I'm sure the other companies will be there.

It looks like Sonitus (the company behind soundbite) will be exhibiting at the 5th International Conference on Acoustic Neuroma June 28-July 1, 2011 (Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, Los Angeles).  This conference is geared toward medical providers but the program schedule includes many topics discussed on the ANA discussion boards.  I don't believe the conference is open to the public.

As far as I can tell from their website this is the first time the International Conference on Acoustic Neuroma has been held in the U.S.

Greg,

Thanks for posting this conference information. Quite a few of the participants are names that are very familiar. I hope that some of the discussions, etc. will filter down to this forum. Wouldn't it be great if one of our forumites could attend and report on items of interest?

I'm going to the symposium and wish Sonitus would be there also.  I'm considering the BAHA, but would be interested in the Soundbite.  I plan on getting information on all the different options available for me and then making a decision.  Right now the SSD isn't too bad, but at times I do notice it.

Well Sonitus unfortunately was not there, but I did get an opportunity to see and hold the TransEar.   The doctor at GW said they would begin fitting for Sonitus in August, so I will go there to try it out and make a decision between that and the TransEar.   I wrote to a friend who is a developer of the Sound Bite and he sent me all kinds of information not to worry about the EMFs in the SoundBite.   I can send that if you like.

Just checked the Sonitus website.  There is a link to soundbitehearing.com that shows locations of practitioners at this time.  Pittsburgh is my closest option, so I'll contact Dr. McKenna's office at Mass Eye and Ear to see if they've got it in the works.  He knows the developers personally, so I'd think they would be attempting to set up a practice at MEEI.  What a life changer this would be for me!  Psyched!

Nancy - Mass Eye and Ear is not yet an official provider but Soundbite is in contact with them to become one of the early adopters by October.  Pittsburgh is accepting appointments though.  The earliest that the device will be available is August 11th.

Mei Mei - I would love any information that you have.

So exciting!

I'll search my email and copy and paste what the developer said.   He is a Dental Professor and very nice.   I am going to GW Hearing Center in Wasington, DC.   They are beginning in August.
