No Growth

Well for all those in the "watch and wait" status, I am still here.  As mentioned in other posts, I just want to get rid of it, but now is not the right time  I went for my one year MRI and the good news is that the AN has not grown.  I understand many of you have been in this mode for several years, which is good to know.  The MRI also found an enlarged jugular bulb on the left side.  The doctor is referring me to another specialist as he said that it may be pressing on the nerve which may have caused the sudden hearing loss and now the severe tinnitus.  My AN is on the right and was found accidentally.

One thing for sure as all know this is a crazy adventure

So happy for good news of no growth for your AN. We love to hear that especially those of us that are W and W. Congratulations! One thing about all this advanced technology, they do find things sometimes even though they aren't looking for them! See my signature line.

Hi, TJ ~ and thanks for posting your encouraging (no growth) one-year MRI report.  The 'jugular bulb' that was discovered via the new MRI scan may well be the cause of your tinnitus and hearing loss.  I trust that it can be effectively dealt with by the specialist you'll be seeing.  I think we can agree that the AN experience is, indeed, a crazy adventure.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Good news. I am glad for you. I had my first 6 month MRI last week. I will have the results on Tuesday. We will see!

It is amazing what they can find these days.  I tore the tendon in my wrist from one of my many falls (thanks AN balance issues) and when they did an MRI of my wrist to check for a tear they discovered 2 grape size cysts in my hand and wirst  bones.  They look daunting but the docs said they are fairly common and nothing to worry about.  Of course they wanted to do surgery to fix the tear, but on no,  not me, I'm not having ANY more surgery I told them and have been dealing with it with a wirst brace. Of course that was before I was diagnosed with AN #2.  Now looks like surgery is inevitable. 
  I keep thinking I'd like to go in and have them fix the wrist, the knees, the AN all at once. AN hey while they are at it, how 'bout a little tuck here and there  ;D.  Heck, how 'bout a whole body replacement, I'll take the 20 yr old version thank you very much :D

First of all TJ, glad to know your AN has not grown.  Hopefully the other issue will be taken care of soon.

Patti, I often feel like life is just a series of patches at my age.  As long as they have good patches, it will keep me going.  So far I have had good patches!   :o

The thought of no growth certainly works for me.

Yesterday, was at the local ANA support group meeting... the woman that currently leads the group was in W/W 8 yrs before doing anything..... so, it's ok.  Here's wishes that the stinker continues to stay as it (in lack of growth) and that you are doing well.

Thanks for all of the good wishes.  I went to another specialist to see if  the jugular bulb was pressing on the nerve  in my left ear.  The AN is on the right side.  The nerve is not being pressed on, so we continue down the path to try and find out why I lost my hearing in the left ear.  Thanks again all.
