non-stop headache
« on: July 04, 2009, 02:09:36 pm »
:'( hi everybody, i am here to seek for help see if there is anybody has the same experiences like i do.

i have my an surgry done on 12/1/08. everything went pretty good, my nerve is still intacted but i still have no facial movement yet.
having headache every single day( i take 2 to 8 pill of oxy 5/325 depending on my headache scale)
i was pretty much relaying on oxy first 3 month after i have the surgry because of the pain and i try complete oxy free for like 3 weeks in between
until i have a follow up MRI scan on march , they found out i still have around 0.something remain.
starting to take OTC med in the beggin and they can only cuts off some edges for me, not completlely
and i went to my doc for more oxy and made appiontment with gamma knife center in san deigo.
about a month ago i am only been prescriped 90 ( i used to get around 120 from my surgoen per month)
ok they only gives me 90 so i can last until the gamma knife surgry.
couple days ago 7/1/09 i have Gamma knife done.
i have a follow up appointment with my main doctor on 7/29/09 but i already ran out of my meds.i went to urgent care yesterday, they pretty much treats me like a addict and says they will not write me anything for my pain.
i still having headache as i am typing right now. what should i do?
( they said the law change about those med because jackson's death.( they afraid to loose thier job)

they dont understand that i already look differently and  i speak differently and i can not act like regular person and do regular activities, and on top of that i still having a major headache, and i still having a tumor inside my head. :'( :'( :'( :'(

James .....

Just want to say how sorry I am that you are continuing to have debilitating headaches.  I wish I had the magic "fix" but alas everyone of us ANers is unique.  Since I did not have the post AN headache issues I cannot even offer any suggestions.

I did have migraine-type headaches many years before my AN was involved and I know that rebound headaches were a big problem with any pain relief I sought at the time.  I also weaned myself off coffee (actually caffeine of any kind, including chocolate) and it truly did help.  The most relief was from cold packs 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off.

Hopefully someone with more experience in post-AN headaches will help out here.  Let us know how you are doing.

I see a pain management Doctor Dec 11 and I received the appointment this past April.  Lots of rest, ice, and praying, plus some cheap drugs keeps me going.

Take care of yourself,
Anne Marie

Have you talked to a Doc thats just deals/specializes with headaches? there have been people here that started to see a pain specialist after years of suffering. and its made a big difference!

I might also add... if your seeing a pain specialist... they understand your history and pain .. so they wont just cut you off the meds ....

A lot of us have gotten through and gotten better with the help of pain doctors and headache specialists.  There is no one fix or approach that works for everyone.  It's great that the ANA has this forum to share treatment stories.

Hang in there!!!
