Oh sheesh. UPS says my shoes have been transferred to the post office, but the post office tracking page says only that they have been notified that they will be receiving the package.

My shoes are here!!!!

And so pretty - I thought they would be white and light blue, more or less like my old ones, but they are silver with just hints of light blue accent. I can't help but run fast in them!

Oh - there is a tiny circle on the side that says "Mo go" in it. Maureen needs a pair.

OK, Guys and Gals ......

Since I do not want the nagging to start ...... I walked probably close to a mile this morning, from Seton to St. Vincent's to House Clinic and back.  Does that count as exercise?  Albeit, VERY slowly and with several stops along the way.  But, I made it, none the worse for wear, so that is the important thing, I'm guessing!

Sara .....  What kind of shoes did you get?  Also, Kay ...... you told me about a brand, as well??  I need to get some really comfortable, balance friendly walking shoes, to re-motivate myself on returning home.  Problem is I have a narrow foot so rarely can "buy off the rack."

You all will be so buff and healthy, we won't be able to live with you!!  Keep it up everyone!

Clarice, I was barely able to walk down the hospital hall that soon post-op. Good job!

My shoes are the Ariel model by Brooks. I think New Balance is well-known for an excellent variety of widths.

Clarice, Easy Spirit website has 30% OFF their shoes thru today on the online website.  $5 shipping.    That is about all I wear with my wide feet and they have narrow too.     The level 3 athletic ones are probably what you are looking for and that is what I wore when I worked.            I also get Footsmart catalog and are online and got some easy spirit ones this spring from them and also from the easy spirit site a while back.    Only level one but do me pretty good.     I got slip ons as tying shoes is hard for me with the balance issues and probably you too.      Footsmart has all kinds of stuff for people with problem feet.    Mine are sensitive too so is not fun to find shoes.              My husband asked how I could get shoes from online and I said only because both were Easy Spirit 8W and knew they would fit and they did.                       Cheryl R

I'm trying to get caught up on all of the messages!  It's good to see Clarice posting, although I did not think it would take long!  I talked with her on the phone Saturday and she sounds good.  I'm glad all went well for her.  To you runners and bikers, I'm hoping to get on my bike sometime soon after this recovery for the parotid gland tumor.  I saw a pair of walking and toning shoes from Maryland Square that I think I'm going to order.  I have a time finding shoes because I wear a size 5 and you can't find them anywhere.  I even told one sales person that being in my 50s, it's really no fun to have to buy Mary Kate and Ashley shoes!!   :D  I give credit to you long distance runners.  I don't think I could do it.  My town has the West Virginia Strawberry Festival and I had a goal after my AN surgery in Nov. to try to prepare for the Strawberry Mile.  However, that pesky tumor in the gland showed up, so that went down the tubes.  Maybe next year.  Sandy

Sandy-
Please be very careful with the "toner" type shoes - their was a whole thread on here about them. If you have any balance issues, they are probably not the best thing for you!

US?  NAG?  On this thread?  It is NOT NAGGING, it is encouraging (albeit strongly sometimes...especially from the Drill Sergeant!!)   ::)

I'm back from taking school kids to D.C. for 4 days.  The good news is that we had a great time.  The even better news is that I walked a minimum of 4-5 miles a day around the city.  It is a great place to walk because of all the open spaces and the great scenery to distract you while you are walking. I'm feeling a little strain on my shins because of walking the hills we DON"T have in Houston, though  ;)
