I've just about got Dr Love convinced to move us down here.  I am so sick and tired of living in those dang mountains and away from the sea!!  I just gotta get where there are some sailboats and some ocean!!

Here are the lyrics to Jimmy Buffett's song "Hula Girl At Heart." It is my favorite song on his 2007 album "Take the Weather With You."  Enjoy!!

She owns a window to the ocean
She has a pipeline to the sky
But earthly creatures rarely notice
When guardian angels pass them by

Like a gecko behind a painting
With hidden wisdom to impart
In a world that needs more dancing
She's a hula girl at heart

Photograph shows she is lovely
Her barefeet are a work of art
Her fragrance speaks of frangipanni
Yes she's still a hula girl at heart

With her pen and watercolors
Drawing fish and butterflies
Children always seem to conjur
Images they recognize
In the land beside the ocean
Where romantics seem to dwell
Destiny can set in motion
Ripples that turn into swells

She knows how to face the music
She knows where the magic starts
In a world that needs more dancing
She's still a hula girl at heart.

Song sing slow
Days gone by
Time can't keep her
Nor can I.

She has worn a wealth of costumes
Hula skirts to wedding gowns
Lived in cities walked through jungles
Always sees the sun go down
In this age of teeming tourists
Fellow travelers know her well
The darling of deserted beaches
Adds her rhythms in a shell

Her sensual and easy motion
Seems impossible to chart
In a world that needs more dancing
She's still a hula girl at heart.

sound like anyone we know............?

Capt Deb,
Me thinks Mr Buffet wrote that song for you, about you.  Good luck with the talking Dr Love into moving you near the warm beaches and the ocean breeze...  I'm trying to figure out how he got you into the mountains in the first place???

Just got back from a birthday dinner party wiv 7 lady captains and got invited to go sailing for a week in the Caribbean in March! Wonder if my poor head could take that kind of strenuous activity or would I be down below and miserable the whole time? Ain't nuthing more fun than a boatload of women, believe me! The gals who invited me run a sailing school and are trying to fill the boat--probably 45-49 footer out of Tortola. Sounds like fun, don' it!!!

There is one sure-fire way to find out, and since in involves being in the Caribbean in March, it must be a good idea.  ::)

Capt Deb,
I love, love stories!  Teacher's pet, hey!  I'm sure that your wonky head would be fine and if not the 45 foot vessel would surely lull you to a peaceful rest while gulping your meds.  I  say go for it!  What an adventure....and we aren't done having adventures are we???

Well,  I've had a stinkin' headache for 2 freakin' days and do I really think I'd enjoy haveing one down below on a moving sailboat? Yeach!  If I was going with close friend who were willing to anchor up for the day if I had a migraine it would be a different story.  This trip would be part of a sailing "class" and a chance for me to brush up on my GPS navigation.  I think I'm going to have to pass on the trip.

I am, however, going SAILING on Saturday  for the first time since my brainboogerectomy!!!  I am so excited and hoping for a brak in the cold (60's) weather we have been having.  I spoke wiv me dear Dr Love last night and he said that he was going to try to come down to pick me up.  Also means he wants to look at a few properties! Yeah!

I'll let you all know how my sailing trip goes Saturday.  The Wicked One-eared Wench Returns to the Sea At Last!!!

Capt Deb,

I hope this is the last headache you have for a long time!  I think I am as excited as you are about your upcoming sailing thingy!  We bought a little fishing boat to use on the bayous and worked on it Sunday.  I can't wait for it to get warm enough to take out and just sit and fish!  I won't be hoisting any sails, but you have a great time!!!
I hope those properties are near the water and sandy beaches!!

Oh yeah they are!  Dr Love is spoilt by being able to fly fish right in his front yard up here. Anything less than on the water just won't do. At least hafta have a place to keep a small boat or a kayak. Beachfront too pricey but bayfront might be nice. Hey! I'd take an itty bitty condo as long as it's close to the beach! I go through this every time I come down here--I get into my "I hate the cold--why did I ever leave the islands" mode. Having the disabilities from the AN surgery exacerbate the situation, but I digress..........and this is supposed to be the FUN thread!!!

Stay warm everyone!!  I'll be thinking of you while I'm walking the beach!

Gasparilla!!  Now you are gonna hafta google it youself becuz this here Blackberry don't let me see the lil pictures so's I can post a link. It is like a big Pirate Street party and St Pete is about an hour away from Sarasota and is where a few more lady captain friends live.

Now the only problem I'm having is finding one of my friends down here that is crazy enough to take me to this thing! They all say it is a giant mosh pit and none of them want to be responsible for me getting squished!!  Wimps!  I sez!  Guess I'll just hafta go sailing instead.  I can always just buy me a Gasparilla T-shirt and lie about it!  'Sides, I left most of me pirate costume at home--couldn't get the cutlass and pistols through security and me pirate hat wouldn't fit in me suitcase.

I second that!  I haven't worn heels for years - way before my AN - it seems the older I get the flatter my shoes become  :D

Kudos to you, Captain!  I wish I were in Florida too.  Although I'm very happy to say it was about 50 in Chicago yesterday and will be again today and for the next few days - if the weather people are correct (and sometimes that's a big IF).  WOO HOO!  Guess I can finally get the car washed without the windows freezing shut  :D  Life is good!
