photo problem
« on: July 18, 2008, 12:34:27 pm »
My daughter was here today for lunch and I have copied the instructions on how to get your profile photo so she could do it.         After the work all that would show up was a blank square at my profile.            She is usually very computer savvy and had no clue why it was not.      Anyone got any ideas on why it did what it did.

Hi Cheryl-

Did she use Photobucket? That was the only way I could get my picture to show up.  It is also what I use to post pictures in a thread.  If she's using photobucket, she should be able to copy the URL into the Profile page on the forum.  Seems like it should be easier, doesn't it?  I couldn't figure it out either until someone here helped me.

How are you doing?

Yes she used photobucket.         She seemed to be able to paste the info too at the profile.     I have no clue about what happened.       I later was logged off and when back on, the square with no photo does not show up.

Hi Cheryl,
If the picture is at Photobucket.com, and it's of an appropriate size, you should be able to put it in the "I have my own picture" section of your profile, with a format something like http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l46/Cheryl/photo_4.jpg
Regards,

I was just even able to go to photobucket and find my pic which my daughter cropped so it is just my face and get it on my profile but then it still just has the square with no pic in it.          Drat as it is the only decent pic of me taken this spring before the April surgery.
Maybe I'll make it here someday and maybe not.                  Cheryl R

Hi Cheryl,

suggestion.... when you/your daughter goes to the picture on Photobucket, place the mouse over the posted picture and "right click" the mouse. You will see an option for "Properties".  Scroll down to open the "Properties" box.  In the "Property" box, highlight the entire line showing the link/URL address for the picture and "copy" (Cntrl-C).  Then, come back to your profile here... go to your "Profile" and where it notes that "I have my own picture", in that field, do a "paste" (Cntrl-V).  Then, once the link/URL pastes there, don't forget to scroll down the screen to "save changes".......

Hope that helps.
