Feeling of Fullness in Head
« on: August 16, 2006, 02:21:14 pm »
My Spouse had surgery 5 years ago and is constantly complaining of a "Fullness" in his head.  Says he feels like his head is going to explode.  Originally feeling was local; now seems to be spreading.  Anyone have this issue (among others).  If so, how did you deal with it?  Any physicians you could recommend.  Thanks so much

I have had fullnes since the surgery over a year ago.  The doctor's all think it is nothing.  I have had MRI's and with contrast.  Lots of gliomas and gliosis, nothing else.  I do have MS so I thought maybe that was what was causing the sensation.  Let me know if your doctors figure anything else out.

I agree--MRI time.  I feel pressure in my head all the time, 1 year post-op.  Cranial work helps it, but doesn't go away.

Hi Kaye!

My feeling is if the fullness never left, a migraine syndrome was developed from surgery. Re it getting worse, that 'may' be true or not. Seems oftentimes the longer we have things and the more frustrated we become, things do indeed feel worse, especially w/o answers.
I would agree it is worthy of another MRI however.
  Best wishes!!

How about this description, I use this one a lot,  it's like trying to balance a bowling ball on my shoulders. A rather heavy one

:) Thank all of you for your responses.  I just told him others have the "fullness" also and their MD's also say nothing.   Yes, he's had yearly MRI's and they are negative.  Now he's describing it as, "numbness and tingling"  He's getting more and more depressed over it.  Yes, I'm sure he's glad to be alive but after 5 years thought it would get better not worse.  Again, Thanks to all

I call it "wonkyhead"--mine gets worse with stress and activity. Hasn't gone away yet, and I suppose it never will!  I wish I could remember what it felt like not to have it sometimes. When it gets bad I describe it as an "elephant sitting on my head" and is accompanied by bad headpain. I'm seeing a headache specialist at a headache clinic. Something hubby may want to look into. After a clean MRI it's time to quit being concerned with the "why" and be concerned with the "what can I do about it."
