On the Boat?
« on: August 08, 2008, 03:33:44 pm »
Hey Gang,
My husband and I own an 18 foot boat. My surgery was June 4th and I have not felt up to going on it but last weekend my husband pleaded and I agreed. Of course it happened to be one of the rougher days on the water but we went anyway. We live near lake Simcoe so not big huge waves but enough that the boat was going bang bang over the waves and I thought "Is that my brain bouncing around?" I didn't want to disappoint my husband then finally said "Okay okay we need to go slower this is killing me" He was great and we had a great day but I am concerned.
Do you think that I did any damage to my nerve that is regenerating?

Michelle,

I'm sure it only FELT like your brain was bouncing around in there!  I'm sure you couldn't have done damage to your nerve.  I would think you would have had to knock yourself out cold before you'd have to worry too much.

You had a great day on the boat (what day on a boat isn't great?), so I'd just enjoy the happy memories of the day and not worry too much about it!

Maybe next time you should bring me along so I can make sure your brain is okay.   :D

I agree with Lori - if anything, you gave your nerves a little wake up call. I too would want to slow down enough not to feel sick, but other than that, enjoy the ride.  8)

Michelle, Dr. Casey told me I could do anything after surgery that I did before, including roller coasters if I want to. I know it's a lot harder for me to relax and have fun now, but that is exactly what we ought to be doing.

On my way with the wine and my inflatable ducky inner tube floaty thing.

I'll stop off and give Sara some of the wine before she gets on the roller coaster.  Maybe it'll help her relax - although I'm not sure if she'll have fun!   :o
