I agree with Nancy - it seems like only really nice people get ANs!  And, Joe - good idea on the bar (Willie agrees!)  I guess Wendy and I will have to work on this for the next one.   ;)

Well, Phyl, we should be thanking you for setting the bar high with the Apple Dumplin' Gang!  It was seeing your posts about brunch gatherings that first gave me the idea last year of getting together.    So, mmmmwwwwhhhhhaaaa (that's a virtual kiss)

Hi Wendy,
I got the results of my follow up MRI today, and my tumor is unchanged!  Great news!  But, I need to find out why I have so much dizziness for a 4mm AN.  I expect to talk with HEI in a day or two, Dr. Kwartler of Summit Medical Group next Wednesday, Dr.Choe of Mount Sinai next Thursday and then Mayo Clinic in three weeks.  I feel like Sherlock Holmes!

Jeff,

We'll all be anxious to find out what you learn from your upcoming consultations -- hopefully someone can provide you with good answers.

Keep up that optimistic attitude you showed at our get-together last week!

Best wishes,

HI Jeff,

I'm glad to hear your MRI showed no growth -- that's always good news.  It sounds like you're going to be very busy getting to the bottom of the cause of your extreme dizziness.  You do kind of sound like Sherlock Holmes -- following all leads available in such a methodical way.  I'm sure you're anxious to get some answers and I'm sure you will.  My best guess is the location of your AN is to blame -- I'm no expert, but perhaps this is a question you should ask.   Good luck and be sure to let us know what you learn.

Wendy,
I posted this about 30 minutes ago, but since it didn't seem to take am repeating it.

Today I received a telephone call from Dr. John House of HEI.  He said that given that (1) my AN is so small at 4mm, and (2) I have no hearing loss to speak of, he suspects my serious and variable dizziness might even be unrelated.  He suggested getting a video nystagmagram (VNG) to measure my balance function.  I will pursue this.  He was really nice and thoughtful, and said certainly don't jump into surgery until I know what I've got.

Hey Jeff-

I also talked to Dr. House - he was my first consult.  Really nice and very forthcoming.  I liked him a lot.  Interesting what he said about the dizziness. (As if having a brain tumor isn't enough!!)

Jeff,

I'm glad you're getting some answers -- or at least suggestions on what to pursue next -- as you continue your research. And I'm glad that you received your consult from Dr. John House. He's extremely nice and thoughtful on the phone ... and even better in person! He's the surgeon who performed my translab and is very much one of my heros!
