the stupidist thing people said....
« on: March 14, 2006, 07:23:46 am »
Iworked in a factory.  When the big news came out, the talk about " the tumor was as big as a "grapefruit".  I thought this was funny.  How can a brain tumor be that big?  My skull is'nt large enough to accomodate that baby.

MRI to confirm the AN diagnosis: $1500.00

Surgeons bills for AN translab surgery: $20000.00

Hospital bill for AN translab surgery: $73,000.00

Having a co-worker ask (to my face!) "Did you die?":  Priceless

There are some things in life that insurance will cover; for the rest of coping with AN, there are the stupid!   ;D
3.5 cm right AN.  Surgery 11/7/05, modified translab.  As recovered as I'd ever hoped to be.

6 weeks prior to the tumor discovery my husband had a work related accident in which large roofing  sheet metal slid off a truck, knocking him to the ground, literally covered his body in sheet  metal..  Move ahead to the tumor discovery and being treated on an emergency basis. I asked his boss at the time to meet me in the hospital cafeteria.  I don't know what I expected, maybe alittle compassion, but the first words out of his mouth was "Could the tumor of caused his accident?"
Guess this tumor was a pretty special tumor, we know how rare these tumors are, and 6 cm tumors are fairly rare, but how about a telekenisis Acoustic Neuroma that can make objects move, especially big objects 26 ft long, 700 pounds.  Now that's some tumor!!!!!

Best to all
