Mayo
« on: August 18, 2008, 08:31:38 am »
I have a friend, Jane, that wishes to go to House for surgery but her insurance will not cover. She is now considering Mayo. Anyone out there that had surgery at Mayo and give her some reassurance?

hello

I beleive MAYO is one of the BEST treatment center, not only for ANs. But as you know, the HOUSE only does AN surgeries. I would think that even if she cannot get to the HOUSE, she will be in REALLY GOOD hands at Mayo. I almost went there for my surgery but decided to go with radiation.

cheers

Hi there, I had translab at Mayo Clinic Rochester, and they were fabulous. Your friend doesn't just want a surgeon who does lots of different types of head/neck surgeries, she needs an AN specialist. My team said they did an AN surgery about once a week for the last 8 years. People from all over the world come to Mayo for the serious stuff, so she'll be well cared for. My team was doctors Link and Driscol. Best wishes! Yvette

I have been in contact with a girl that had her AN surgery at Mayo last winter and had absolutely NO problems at all.  If you would like, I am sure I could get your info to each other...let me know.

I've heard nothing but great things about AN surgeries @ Mayo.

House is definitely at the top of the list, but it's not practical logistically or financially for many to go there.  I found docs in my area who did an excellent job for me - and there are many other docs out there who are also excellent.

Good luck to Jane.  Please keep us updated on her - or better yet, encourage her to join us  :)

Thanks,

Jan

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
