I would not take Effexor again for anything. I was given it for Menopause symptoms and it was a nightmare and then coming off of it... makes this sound in your head like a gun shot is going off. It is an awful, awful drug!

TLC,
I take a form of Effexor called Nortriptylene. It has helped me with headaches and dizziness. I also had trigeminal nerve pain and it relieved it as well. I take 50 mg a day. It was supposed to help me sleep, but it had the opposite effect on me. I also get acupuncture for the same symptoms (plus facial paralysis). Hope this helps you.

Teresa,
A doctor in Atlanta prescribed it for me. I started on a low dose and gradually increased to 50 mg. I have another appt in July for therapy. I hope that you can get some relief. Have you tried acupuncture ?

I took Effexor post op for depression, not for balance.  Although, who knows, maybe it helped with my balance too.

I had no side effects at all and kinda felt like I needed something to get me over the difficult part of my recovery and acceptance of the new me.  I weaned myself off of it by taking a lower dose for a little while and then eventually stopping (the doctor was in on all of this, I didn't do it on my own).  I hope I don't need it again, but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate to take it.  It made a very difficult time much more bearable for me and I'm sure for my family.

I've never heard about it for balance issues, but so many drugs are used for other than their original intended use, so you never know.
