Thanks Mark,

I think that the difference in size comes from the side that the AN is growing on - the oncologist drew a diagram with the AN moving to the right by .2 cm / 20 mm - the 1.6 cm may have been length. Does that make any sense.
I appreciate your answer very much as it confirms the way I feel about it and it's always comforting to know that someone else sees it that way.

I think what you're relating from the radiation oncologist is exactly right. AN's are measured in three dimensions which are not necessarily equal. The most common number that we all quote for convenience is the length, but that is not totally accurate. In my case, my final measurement before treatment was something like 2.1x1.9x1.7, so I refer to it as a 2 cm AN when I talk to people. At my last check roughly 18 months ago, I believe Dr. Chang had it measured around 1.7x1.5x1.3 or thereabouts. In evaluating and benchmarking it's size, it's important to consider each element.
