Tinnitus Suddenly Worse
« on: October 19, 2024, 03:12:35 am »
Hi all.

It has been just over 2 years since AN surgery removal 87%. This past few weeks tinnitus has struck me roaringly worse and with dizzy spells. I can’t understand it. Does anyone have anything to add?

Hi Jordy!

Welcome back to the ANA Forums!  I wish I could help you regarding the tinnitus and the dizzy spells.  But can you share what the last two years have been like otherwise?  You did such an excellent job sharing your experience on these forums.

I hope the tinnitus dies back down soon.

Hi Jordy. It's been 2 years since I had gamma knife. Some days my tinnitus is like a loud roar. Other days it's like a click or chirp. Some days it bothers me. I haven't figured out why it fluctuates.

I used to have tinnitus - I feel its a few things that aggravate it and I talked this through a few years back with an audiologist. Firstly blood pressure, virus exposure, certain ototoxic medications even NSAIDS can, sleep disorders, high histamine diet, ageing and hearing loss, hormonal fluctuations. Melatonin helped me somewhat and reducing stress. Magnesium seemed to help and when it was at its worst 1mg valium before bed or full spectrum CBD/CBN (just saying what helped me) maybe as they are muscle relaxants. White noise also helps. Perhaps see an audiologist for more insights.

Michele,

When you say you used to have tinnitus, does that mean it is gone now?

Hi Dan yes I never experienced much tinnitus (years ago had pulsitile tinnitus maybe a sign of the AN). I did get some tinnitus after the rna Vx a few years back and after Covid too but it went away again. I am unaware of it. I take melatonin which may help plus I do a lot of destressing techniques such as the free Relax breathing exercise on Calm app for example. I also keep my blood pressure in normal range. At night I use the 737 cabin noise on Spotify as my white noise and listen to calming music all day. As I sit here now there is a very soft static sound in my ear. It doesnt bother me and unsure if that is tinnitus? My audiology report says I am at around 87% hearing in that ear still...but next report is in Feb. She said important to keep earwax down with eardrops and maybe a clean with an audiologist - which is helpful.  I still get stabbing ear pain at times if I lie on that side too long though. Thyroid and jaw misalignment can also cause tinnitus- I now wear a dental guard at night as I was clenching.

Jordy,

Sorry I high jacked the stream, with my question to Michelle.  My tinnitus has been consistent since it first presented itself. It has not changed.  It did get a little worse after CK but went back to "normal".  My has always been a bit on the loud side.  I wish I had an answer.  I will look in to what Michelle said.  My sister has tinnitus and uses some of the same things Michelle mentions.  They will probably help us.

Good Luck,

Dan

I'm about to try a product sold by the same company as the Lipo Flavonoids for balance, dizziness, vertigo that I started taking on the advice of Dr. Slattery at House Clinic last year. The formula looks benign: B vitamins, Calcium, C, and a "high potency lemon bioflavonoid compound (1000 mg)." It's meant to be taken 3x/day--we will see if I manage to do that, but they claim a money-back guarantee if not satisfied after 60 days. Has anyone here tried this stuff?  My tinnitus is worsening, and is pretty loud at times. Thank goodness it's not constant, and I sometimes don't notice it for hours. Coupled with muffled hearing on my good side, which I've been unable to resolve with all of the sinus-related remedies suggested, and 0 hearing on my tumor side, it seems like the tinnitus really interferes with my hearing--i'ts that loud. Have others found that?
