My case
« on: August 07, 2024, 12:37:46 PM »
Hi all,

looking for some help. Here's my story

-July 3 experienced hearing loss in my RIGHT ear
-went away within a day on its own
-Came back July 15 (same ear)
-Started Prednisone on July 17. On day 3 of prednisone, my hearing came back 100%
-Until now, Aug 7, my hearing has been normal, but I am feeling some numbness on my scalp/behind my ear but on my LEFT side.

Any thoughts??

Have you been officially diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma?

Marla, If you're the same person who wrote A Whole New Normal An Acoustic Neuroma Journey, your book has kept me sane over the past few months. I've read a few other books, but none were as honest and as helpful as your book.

When I started my journey and was just dealing with hearing loss I went to two doctors.  I wanted a second opinion and I really liked the second guy.  He sat me down after the examination and said "You do not have to do anything, but talking to you like a brother, if you can afford it get an MRI just to be safe." I did and they found the tumor. My advice is the same to you, If you can get an MRI.  Good luck on your journey.

Hi there - I Was wondering how you are doing now. Are you still getting the ear pain? I still get it it if I lie on that side - so been over 5 years lying on other side. It seems very  few people have this symptom and no one I have consulted thinks its the AN even though this was my only presenting symptom.  Lately I have been pain free am combining l theanine with magnesium, small amt taurine and some melatonin and sleeping better which helps.

When I was going through a tough time in my life, I barely spent any time outside. Most of my days were spent in front of the TV, watching shows endlessly — comparing streaming platforms like Hulu vs. Netflix https://help-center.pissedconsumer.com/hulu-vs-netflix/, trying to distract myself from reality. I didn’t really want to face what was happening around me. But things are much better now. I’ve found more balance in my life — I enjoy my job, I spend quality time with my loved ones, and I’ve started appreciating the little things again. It feels good to be more present, to laugh, to make plans, and to simply enjoy life as it is.
