I first thought there was a connection if you were left or right handed but I don't think so anymore.  My father was right handed but we believe his left ear was the bad ear like mine is.
Proton Radiation for my hemangioma at MGH December 2009.  Hearing has improved.  Doing great!

Left handed/Right sided AN
Right sided AN 2.7cm at last MRI.  Hearing loss/facial numbness.  Translab scheduled March 11th 2009.  Translab at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia successful!  Total tumour removed, SSD, no facial issues, numbness has left the building, balance issues but they'll get better and I'm loving life!

This is a very old post.

I think research has shown that 50% of ANs are left side and 50% are right side - and that handedness is irrelevant.

Research has also shown that 50% of AN patients are male and 50% are female.

Guess this means that ANs are equal opportunity tumors  ;D

Left AN 3.0 cm (1.5 cm @ diagnosis 6 wks prior) SSD. BAHA implant 3/4/08 (Dr. Battista) Divino 6/4/08  BP100 4/2010 BAHA 5 8/2015

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I thought I was having a "senior moment" until I did some searching.  Yes, this probably has been around more than once before.  But I knew I had responded to this query several months ago.  If anyone is interested, you can check out additional replies on handedness vs. AN side at:  http://anausa.org/forum/index.php?topic=9128.0
