Joe,

Don't know what to say about that. Maybe it's part of the regenerative process with the nerves. Can take up to two years from what I was told.

Well, when I eat chewy stuff my eye tears and nose runs on both sides.  Once in a while it stops and then a few days later its back.  But the very tip end of my tongue hasn't stopped tingling so I think I am not done yet!  At least everything tastes great and the metallic is gone!  Yesssss.

crying is a good sign...it means ur facial nerve is getting better. because the facial nerve also controls saliva production for the left side, in some cases when its regenerating the nerves gets mixed up and the saliva thats ment to lubricate your mouth goes to your tear duct. so thats why you get tears when you are eating

My AN eye also tears when I eat. It beats the dry eye I had previously. It is true that when I am eating something very chewy or have to take a big bite, the tearing is heavier.

Joe,
This is very common--mine was tearing all the time when I ate, now just sometimes.

Called crocodile tears--straight from  my surgeon.

The eye on my left side runs all the time (AN surgery was on right), still no real "tears" to speak of in the right.  Thought it was coming back at one point but that turned out to be a fluke.

Mine only tears with certain foods, for example when I chew gum it never tears, but if I chew on french bread, steak, etc... it tears up immediately.  One thing I miss is having a really good cry, haven't had one in 8 years :'(  When I do cry out of the good eye it causes pain on the AN side.
