Second MRI on Monday Afternoon!
« on: April 10, 2015, 07:07:24 am »
After being diagnosed back in October of 2014 I'm set for my next MRI on Monday at Vanderbilt.  This is the first since the one where it was originally found. Can't wait to see what is going on in there!  Mine is small, 1 CM or so...have Tinnitus 24x7 but have learned to live with it. No balance issues yet. Would love to continue to do NOTHING.  Stay tuned!
Diagnosed 10/13/14 with 1.4cm AN L side

At the six month mark (and maybe the 12 month mark) you can usually expect to see some necrosis (central dark spots) and slight enlargement due swelling.

See:

Sometimes can take two years or more to see any appreciable shrinkage. At the two year mark my Alien Life Form was back to close to it's original size.
3/15/18 12mm x 6mm x5mm
9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

Well I will be heading off to Stanford on Sunday.  Going to give the Cyberknife a try.  There is an amount of relief that all the information gathered has gotten me to the point of doing something about it.

I will write in after I get back!

Hoping for the best for you!  It's a good sign if symptoms have not progressed,, that will be main reason to proceed from w & w.

Sorry for the late response.  MRI done and essentially no change!  Still at around 1.19 CM.  Recommendation was to go to 1 YR. I'm doing that!

By the way, I did mention to the Dr. at VANDY that I was taking two 81mg aspirins per day based on the study. His response was that was one of his friends at Harvard Univ. and he was not yet convinced. I told him I had no reason NOT to deviate....he agreed. Who knows?

On to April 2016.  Hope all continue to do well.

The aspirin sounds like chicken soup, it couldn't hurt.  Congratulation on the no growth.  I got the same thing on my 6 month and my Dr initially recommended 1 year to the next.  By the time I left the office, he changed it to 6 months.  So, another day off from work and a noisy MRI sooner rather than later.  I wonder if I get a free fill-up with the 5th one or maybe some Green Stamps?
Diagnosed June 2014 1cm AN at 47 years of age.  Had fluctuating symptoms since 2006.    6 mos MRI (Dec 2014) showed no growth, MRI  in July 2015 showed no growth.  MRI Jan 2016 showed no growth.  MRI Aug 2016 showed no growth.  I'm gonna ride the WW train as long as I can.

Steak knives from gas stations.  Can you imagine a gas station attendant handing out a knife to a stranger and it being company policy?  I still have some of those cheap, plastic handled steak knives in with the tools I inherited from my father.   ;D

I just read in this thread something about a study that was done about taking 2 baby aspirin a day.  Can somebody please elaborate?  I ask because I am taking 2 baby aspirin a day and my tumor hasn't grown so I was wondering if this might be helping.  I take the aspiring because my doctor told me my blood was think but if it is helping the tumor also, great.
