Jane~
ALL my other ones, platinum included, had been right on the lash line and VERY noticeable.  She put this one a bit higher up - she really wanted it a little higher even but the cartilage in my eyelid is  because of all the surgeries and therefore unsuitable.  I'm telling you - it's GREAT AND I am getting better closure than ever before!

Thanks K for input,,
Isn't that interesting that with it being higher up you get better closure,, seems counter-intuitive,, seems it would not be as efficient at closing lid,  very interesting indeed!! I just may have to look further into that idea,, thanks so much,,

That is EXACTLY what I thought but it is really good.  In fact, when I have gone to 2 different Dr's in the last week, they have both commented on how great the closure is!!

My surgery was yesterday morning. What an easy procedure. I talked to the surgeon the entire time. I think at one point he asked the anesthesiologist to crank up the sedative! :) Yesterday after surgery was a breeze. More swelling today and some blood in my eye but minimal discomfort. I haven't taken any pain medication today. Today has been pretty much cold compresses and naps.
I have too much swelling to judge how the weight looks. I was informed that he was using platinum. I am excited to see the results. Too many years of dry eye and not being able to squint.

Thanks to all of you who recommended the procedure.

Now most people say minimal pain. Why is mine so painful I wonder? I noticed that I had some procedure that started with an E to "repair my lower lid". Maybe that's it?

Of course, I feel no pain on that side but after one of my weight surgeries, I went straight to my daughter's soccer game...with a bag of frozen peas for my eye!
Glad it went well!

Unjaded,
I am not sure of the name of the other procedure along with the platinum weight insertion but I think it was Tarsorrhaphy. It was described as "a stich" in the corner of my eye to help with closure. I will update the post when I get more information.

I believe you said the surgeon stitched your eye shut. That may be causing the additional pain. The area where I seem to notice the most pain is the stitch in the corner of my eye.  I would think additional stitches would cause more irritation and pain.

I hope things improve quickly.

I have a couple of stitches about a 1/2 inch below the eye also (I posted a link to my imgur album in the thread i started) and that seems to be where the pain is coming from so you're probably right. It's feels much better today but is still very sore.  I look like I've been in a boxing match. When people stare I just tell them they should see the other guy  >:D

A little over one month since surgery. My eye still has a little gap but it seems to be less dry. One issue is matter build up in my eye overnight. I really have to rinse my eye in the morning but still deal with the matter during the day. In a couple of weeks I meet with the opthamologist for the second time. Hopefully he will have some ideas. Anyone else have problems with matter building up and good remedies?
