Insurance for BAHA
« on: June 09, 2011, 04:09:20 pm »
Hello all.
I have a baha (still under warranty with Cochlear). The warranty expires this summer, so I'm looking to find insurance for it. I called my insurance company, Allstate, and baha is not eligible to be added to the homeowners' policy.

I had to send my baha several times for repair (and my audiologist said that each repair costs ~$500), so I do want to insure it. Any suggestions how to do that? Does your homeowners' policy cover it? If yes, what is the name of your company? I think I'm shopping for a new insurance agency.

Thank you.

My BP100 is still under warranty from Cochlear, but I've heard of lots of people who've added a rider to their homeowners insurance policy.

I'm surprised that Allstate doesn't do this; being one of the larger insurance companies, you'd think they would.  Did they understand what a BAHA is?

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I'll try again talking to my agent, and if she cannot add it, will look for a new policy.
