muscle spasms? once facial nerve cut.
« on: June 19, 2006, 07:30:05 pm »
I decided to simplify my last post, wrote it last night when I was half asleep.
Has anyone had their face muscles "contort" in places after the facial nerve had been severed?
I have now had two instances where a part of my face seems to scrunch up and pull my mouth down after there was pressure on the face.It scared the willies out of me yesterday when it happened and I was afraid it would stay like that.My face did relax after time but I am wondering if this is common ?Is there anything that can be done to look after your "bad" side other than warm compresses and facial massage? Has anyone tried acupuncture?

I came down with Bell's Palsey about 3 years ago. I am still experiencing some after affects. One of which lately has been a muscle spasm in my upper lip. Actually not sure if this is a result of the Palsey or something new going on. Not sure what to do about it. Are there any ideas out there on how to treat?
