She seems to be a bit better today - this weekend was truly frightening (& I am NOT a big alarmist!)...they say that everyone reacts differently...hmmm...where have I heard that before?  I actually got her to take a bath and she played with some stickers for a few minutes.  She is bak asleep now...they had told us she could go back to school (only - no extracurriculars) this week but I don't see that happening in the next few days!  Thanks for the prayers everyone!

K -

glad to hear it.  I'd keep her home a few days just to make sure things are good.

Hope she feels better soon. Keep in mind that there have been a lot of bugs going around this season. It could be that her fever is unrelated to the tonsillectomy.

Also keep in mind that ice cream is good for both soothing throats and bringing down a fever. (Good for Kendie that is, not for Kay who can't go to the gym until she feels better -- sorry to be a spoil-sport!)

Both of you take care now.

If you all have had as many bugs going around as we have I wouldn't rush getting her back to school

I measured the gym perimeter ... 280 feet ... so 18.85714285714286 rounds would be about a mile ...might
just round that up to 19 rounds per mile  ;D ... and that is only correct if the voice from the bedroom that answered me
when I hollered out how many feet are in a mile was right in saying 5280  :o

just FYI - most of you know from FB, but for those that don't, I had to rush Kendie to the Dr. today b/c she started bleeding & then we had to go back across the street to the surgery center where they had to put her under and go back in to cauterize where one of the tonsils used to be.  We are back home now and she seems to be doing well...

Hoping Kendie feels better soon, Kay. Did the doctor say whether that was what caused her fever?

On our fitness quest: I was thwarted from going to the gym yesterday (long story involving family) so took the dog for a long walk in the lovely spring weather. Also I checked the hotel where we are staying and there is a fitness center, so I have packed some workout duds.

Take care, all.

Sounds like everyone is moving - that's great! I've been running but just haven't posted because of lack of time and internet. I ran my half and it went alright. I just took it easy; I have a full marathon in a few weeks, and I'm more concerned (as in very like YIKES concerned) about that. Anyway, the half marathon was nice... watched the sun rise on the Capitol building and ran around the national mall - all set in DC. All very pretty; tried not to think of politics!

Kay - i'm really hoping Kendie is better SOON!!

Lori - want details about the 'last mile' run with the Shamrock marathoners! sounds like it was a blast for your daughter and her class!

Pat - i know it's crunch time for you on the long miles on the bike (same with me on the marathon). I'm hoping for great weather for you this year. I also hope you son is improving.

Phyl - i'm sorry about you job too : (    good for you on the walking though.

Jan - YAY with the WW program and 9 lbs lost, going to the gym, etc.

Sara - i'm thinking you can run the bleachers when in between your daughter's BB games!

Soundy - hope it's nice and cloudy for your 5K. "good weather' on race day is overrated! give me clouds and cool weather anyday!

Jean - good for you on all those exercise days. I think you're building so much muscle, and it weighs more, so therefore it doesn't seem like you're losing weight!

Cindy - glad you're still doing all kinds of dancing, tennis, running after completing your half

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST DI JILL - thanks for all your encouragement. and THANK YOU to your son for his service!

great job everyone!

Keri,

Congrats on the half!  Must have been a pretty run.

The "Final Mile" race for Paige was great.  There were over 2000 kids from schools all over.   :o  They ran 25.2 miles in one mile increments at school, and then on race day, all the kids ran the final mile together and raised money for Operation Smile.  It was amazing.  The day was beautiful, although a little hot for the runners.  The kids all got t-shirts and goody bags and medals, just like the "big" runners.  If I remember how to post a picture on here, I will.

I have my 5K coming up in a month.  Ugh....  I was wondering if I could wear those sneakers with the roller skate wheels built into the bottom (Wheelies or something)?  Then I could run when people are watching and roll when they look the other way!   :D  Although my balance might not be quite good enough for that.

I did buy myself a t-shirt for the event though - it says "Brain Surgery?  Been there. Done that".  I figure that way, people's expectations of me will be low right from the beginning, so even if I have to crawl over the finish line, I might still get a round of applause!  Anyone want to borrow it?   :D

Hey, I remembered how to do this!   ;D  The one with the grey shirt without the hat is my daughter at the Operation Smile Final Mile race.

eeeeeekkkkk ... it has been telling me things from the other room for several years and I don't always pay it much mind ... and to think it could have been right about other things

calling for partly cloudy and high of 65 Saturday , so should be a good day ....not sure if my lazy bones are going with me or not ...they say they are waiting for the walk at school ...

cute kid you have there ...

did a mile at school this morning before having to go collect grand baby ( who if anyone notices bounces between 14 and 15 months because I am trying to teach her that a lady never admits her age) really just confused ...born January 7 2009 so is 14 months and 17 days old  ... I have told people I am 49 for well over a year and I am not 49 yet  :-\... after November I will be telling the truth ... the workings or rather non workings of my brain scare me at times

Sara - i'm thinking you can run the bleachers when in between your daughter's BB games!

At least one of the gyms does not have bleachers, just folding chairs against one wall, and the big gym is split in two during the first part of the tourney to accommodate two games, so temporary bleachers there. Hmmm, I'll do what I can.

Lori, what a cutie. What gorgeous big eyes.

Have a great weekend, and Kay I hope Kendie is feeling better.

lori - agreeing with sara... great pictures of your daughter and the running kids. i bet it was great to finish at the finish line with medals and all that. those big races are so exciting - so much energy.  and i've been wondering about your 5K coming up in a month or a little less, right? how's that going?
