For Kim in Charlotte
« on: June 01, 2006, 05:39:40 am »
Thought I'd start a thread for a new "family" member named Kim who has limited computer time. I talked to her in person yesterday and her surgery is scheduled at Carolina's Medical Center in a few weeks and of course she's going through all the normal stress and apprehension that we all went through. I got a real kick out of her thinking she'd flunk the pre-op screening until I told her it was blood work-ups and X-rays. I goofed on her and told her she had to solve a Rubik's cube! We decided she would cheat and peel off the little squares and stick 'em back on!
Anyway she's a real sweetheart with a loverly family who needs our encouragement, love and support. ;D

Thanks!

Welcome to the our family Kim. Please know that we are all here for you and will guide and support you and your family every step of the way.  The only pre-op test I flunked was my balance test, but we all flunk that one LOL 8 years later and I still can't pass it  :D

I know this is a stressful time for you and what you are feeling is completely normal, the hardest part is waiting. Please know that you will be fine. I am 8 years post-op and life is good!

Sending big hugs your way!

Hello Kim,

I live in Weddington (just outside CLT), but went to Raleigh for my AN surgery
in January (translab - 1.5cmx1.5cm).  I have had no complications,
and am adjusting to life with one deaf ear - although I had lost most
of the hearing prior to surgery anyway.  Good luck at CMC and
best wishes.

It's funny how this works.  When I first joined ANA, I had a difficult
time finding other patients in the CLT area.  Now they are coming out of
the woodworks!  Please include me on any group plans.

Jennifer, Sorry I lost touch for a while.  I'm glad that Ken is doing well.
CAROWINDS? That is impressive.  I've been using the AN as an excuse
to get out of riding the coasters, but I guess I'll have to come up with
a better one.

Take care
