Hearing Aids

Can anyone recommend a good hearing aid and some price ideas? I don't wanna get my hopes up and have to make a decision of weather I'm gonna send my son to college or be able to hear... lol! any input is appreciated! Thanks in advance! ;D

Between my first and second surgeries, when I still had about 20% of my hearing, but with 100% speech discrimination, I wore two different types of hearing aids.  The first one (MicroTech 7 Curve) was a total waste of my money.  The second one (Widex Mind) was very efficient and comfortable.

How much hearing do you still have?  If you are totally deaf, a hearing aid is useless, of course ..... unless you go to the bone-anchored hearing devices.

transear was around 2500.00----it was useless

2.5cm x2.0cm cerebellapontine angle meningioma. 100% removal 2/2009. House Ear Institute. Dr Brackmann and Dr. Schwartz. SSD right ear. No balance problems except when really tired, no headaches. Transear hearing aide made no difference, tried it for 4 months.

I have hearing aids on both ears.  They are Unitron and the model is"yu".  They work very well be are a bit pricey at $2500 each.  But after I bought them I found information that there are many hearing aids they produce the same results and are a lot less expensive.

My Transear (for ssd) was about $2700.00 and I am happy with it.

i have a phonak nathos micro. i am afraid i have no idea of cost, as i am in uk and it is an nhs aid. phonak is a well respected make (says my teacher-of-the-deaf sister). it is sold as phonak versata. it has an open fitting which is very comfy, and is quite discreet. i have beige as that is all the nhs gives us, but can be bought in a range of colours! my loss is - 110dB.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Its nice to have an idea of what im lookin at price wise. and yes i am deaf in the left ear. when i was at my pcp yesterday she was checkin my ears and she drew a deep breath and said oh my... wow... u have no eardrum! I have hearing in the right ear but there is some hearing loss from having 4 tympanoplasties and a mastoidectomy when i was a child.
