Jan,

Good advice, and I will keep it in mind about the hearing devices.  I am so new to all of this AN talk that I get a little lost, and I think I would benefit from some research in BAHA and the other devices you suggest.  I am clueless at this point.  I do know that hearing loss runs in my family.  My mother and maternal grandmother wear hearing aids, but they didn't need hearing aids until age 70.  I am 48 so I have a ways to go yet.  Nancy

Nancy -

I'm 46 1/2 and was clueless too about hearing devices going into my AN surgery.  I chose retrosigmoid with the off chance that I could keep some of my hearing.  The off chance didn't pan out and I was left SSD.  At that point I started doing a little research on the forum and also talking to my doctor.

There lots of BAHA and TransEar users here, so if you ever want more info we will be glad to give you our input.

Retrosig 5/31/07 Drs. Battista & Kazan (Hinsdale, Illinois)
Left AN 3.0 cm (1.5 cm @ diagnosis 6 wks prior) SSD. BAHA implant 3/4/08 (Dr. Battista) Divino 6/4/08  BP100 4/2010 BAHA 5 8/2015

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways
