Melissa778 (daydreamer) GK update
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:56:37 am »
I am now a postie and a postie toastie :)  GK was a breeze.  The frame placement wasn't bad at all.  I was there onyl patient of the day so I had queen's treatment!!  I slept most of the day yesterday and I'm feeling a bit sluggish today.  But overall doing well :)  I am having some issues with one eye, on my AN side......even with glasses on or my contact in I have some blurriness?  Going to contact the doc today to see if that's an odd symptom???  Had a few memory issues as well, but nothing major.

Hi, Melissa:

Congratulations on becoming a Postie-Toastie!  :)

I'm pleased to learn that your GK went smoothly and you're doing O.K.  The double vision is not uncommon but it's wise to mention it to your doctor and see what he says.  The tiredness will pass.  Overall, you seem to have had a pretty good experience and I thank you for updating us on it.  Now, rest and heal.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Hey Melissa-

You postie toastie, you!  Actually, you are in the really elite group with both brain surgery AND radiation!  Oh, what stories you will have to tell your grandchildren some day!

Hope your recovery continues to go smoothly - take advantage of the opportunity to nap and eat chocolate.

Yay, another post toasty! :D :D

Did they give you a relaxing pill?  That messes with your memory too.

Over on the Balance Issues page I have posted an article that you might find interesting.  Some of these issues may crop up after your treatment because your nerve might not be happy with being nuked and will rebel.  It's helpful to understand what is going on.

Hang in there, kiddo!

Congratulations, most postiest toastiest Melissa.  8)

It is good to hear about another case of combining surgery and radiation as an effective one-two punch for taking out an AN.

Goodbye, you little-scraps-of-tumor-left-behind-during-surgery-to-avoid-facial-nerve-issues. Good riddance!  ;D
