HAVING FACIAL LAZINESS
« on: March 29, 2008, 08:11:26 pm »
HI, I HAD MY ACOUSTIC NEURONOMA 3CM REMOVED ON MARCH 11 AT HEI. ALL THE TUMOR WAS ESTRACTED AND MY FACIAL NERVE WAS INTACT. BUT NOW ALMOST THREE WEEKS AFTER SURGERY AND WITH NO MORE MEDICATIONS (ESTEROID AN FAMVIR) I BEEN HAVING FACE LAZINESS IN MY LEFT SIDE. MY EYEBROW DOES NOT LIFT ALL THE WAY AND WHEN I SQUINT MY EYES THEY DONT´SQUINT EQUALLY. I AM BACK IN MEXICO CITY WHERE I LIVE, I WILL CALL MY DOCTORS AT HEI ON MONDAY, BUT YOUR SUPPORT WOULD BE GREAT. IS THIS THSAT IS HAPPENING TO ME NORMAL, COULD IT BE THAT MY NERVE GOT INFLAMATION STILL LEFT.
THANKS

Hi Edu:  I've heard that happening to people on this site.
From what I remember they do get their movement back.   The nerve is still healing
after the trauma of surgery.
Definitely give HEI a call Monday, just for your piece of mind.

In the meantime,  if you're not blinking,  you need to keep your eye well lubricated to
protect the cornea.   Eye drops or lubricant, whichever works best.  Once your
movement returns, & you're producing tears,  you'll know when you won't need the
drops/lubricant anymore.  (your eye won't burn from dryness - as long as you have feeling
on the AN side still).

Wishing you continued healing,    Nancy
