Questions for UK people about driving following GK treatment
« on: December 07, 2006, 10:30:55 am »
I am thinking about having GK treatment for my AN next year and I have a couple of questions about driving. Can anybody tell me:

1. Do the doctors recommend that you don't drive for a period following GK treatment?  (I might even drive myself to Sheffield for the treatment - can I drive home?)
2. Do the DVLA put any restrictions on you following GK treatment?
3. Has anybody had any problems with their insurance company following GK treatment?

Thanks for your help.
Andrew

Good Day - I was at sheffield just yesterday
I think it is an area of unknown by both medical and insurance personnel
My suggestion is you plan for worst case - a bit of sickness or dizzyness
is not unknown a day or two after treatment (or fatigue etc etc)
(like me today perhaps ?)
Apart from the radiation there are steriods and other medications involved
I dont think anyone would say dont drive for a week or so
- but if you did just happen to have mishap it may go against you
in future insurance applications.
If you feel sleepy or unwell on a train - thats it - no real consequences
- if youre driving it may be just the begining
Maybe best to "let the train take the strain ?"
Just a suggestion
Best regards
Tony
