Title: Got my WII Fit Plus!!
Post by: Lynn Mc on December 24, 2009, 10:25:33 am
Wahooo!  Got a WII Fit Plus from my boss because he read somewhere that it could help me with my balance.  Guess he is tired of his unbalanced employee.  What a nice man I work for (been here 23 years!).  Anyway can't wait to get this set up.  I am a little challenged when it comes to this stuff but will get it done.  I think this is the most excitement I have had in forever!!!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas to all,

Lynn

That was so nice of your boss!!!

My kids are getting a Wii for Chistmas tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll be buying myself the balance board and Wii Fit game sometime soon after.  I've heard such great things about it.  Let us know if you like it and what games seem to work.

Enjoy!

That is a very awesome and thoughtful gift!

I've been wanting to get a Wii for a while and the Wife has been resisting so I will likely use my AN and possible surgery as leverage to get one.. sneaky and underhanded? maybe but at least the little booger can be a little useful  :P

I have had my Wii fit for over a year and the Wii fit plus for about 2 months.  It has helped greatly with my balance.  Some of the yoga I really can't do without using a chair to hold on to (the 1 legged yoga stuff) but this has helped so much that I don't have to be thinking about my balance every time I get up and go walking.  Of course if I am really tired then my balance is worse but other than that, it has made a huge difference.  I shared quite a bit of information about it in the last ANA news letter that came out.
I recomment the Wiii fit to everyone who has had balance problem.

marg
p.s.   Hope you all had a great Christmas

YAHOO!  I got a Wii Fit yesterday as a surprise gift from my family!  It's pretty awesome.  At this point, it is saying my "balance" age is 40.  I'm 31.  Haha.

So, I still have a way to go, but I think my balance is pretty good for only 2ish weeks out.  Pretty neat.  If I can wrangle the Wii from the kids for an hour or two today, I'll practice some more.

Congrats Lynn!!!!

That is great balance, 2 weeks out!!!!!  Hope I do as well.  The kids do have a great time with them.  I tried my daughters last year & it had me way over my real age & I wasn't half as wonky as I am now.   I am going to get mine going today.  I am afraid what mine says my age is before surgery&*$&#.  I will be honest & post it.

Happy Trails,
Lynn

Got my WII up & running!!!  It says I am 68 (really I am 60).  I am going to work hard so it doesn't say I am 80 as a postie!  One of the first things it asked me after I did all the prelims was did I trip a lot!!$#@.    It also says I am UNBALANCED!!  I guess the truth is out!

Oh dear,
Now my competitive nature comes out. I should not have found this thread. Nope. Should not have.  :)  Now I have a place to post my wii fit age and my penguin tummy slide scores! Anyone ready to take me on for eating fish on an iceberg? On second thought, since I can't get back to the tennis court quite yet, maybe this will be good for me. hehehehe.. does make me smile.

We have had the Wii for a year now and I got insurance to pay for Wii Fit ... oldest got Fit Plus
for her birthday ...

my age is 52 today ... 4 weeks ago when I last tested , it was 47 ... I am 48 so not far off ...

I like playing against the girls ... on most things they can whip me coming and going ... but
the penguins and the balance board where ball drops through mazes is mine ... Yoga is not my
strong point , but I  can chase that little dog all over the place untilI have mild asthma attack
and still enjoy it ...I love the ski jump now that I have figured out how to do it and not fall
off the front of the balance board ...

the girls have other non balance board games that test mind agility ... I will just
say my mind is not as agile as it should be ...

if nothing else the Wii and Wii fit make me relax and lighten up and have fun and not worry
so much about my wobbly gait ... it just enhances the game and make it more fun for spectators

Tamster,

You are on.  I have gotten pretty good at catching those fish.  Can't get the red ones as I always fall off!!!!

I think you could both take me in the penguins game.  My penguin is always falling off the edge!

I also stink at the down hill skiing, but I'm pretty good at the one where you drop the ball(s) through the little tables.

I like the yoga exercises, but I don't feel like it is really doing much for my balance and since I get tired of anything after a few minutes I'm trying not to waste my energy on things that might not be helping.  Except for bowling.  I love wasting my energy on bowling.   ;)

GAME ON!

This morning I got on Wii Fit first thing as my balance is pretty wobbly when I first wake up. My Wii age was 52 which is my real age too, so that's come down about 12 years since I got home.
My penguin record is 102.

Should I start trying the slalom now too?

Give me a challenge; there's no vestibular rehab here in SLC until the 14th so Wii and walking are my exercises for now.

Yay!  I think we should set up a challenge.  It will encourage us all to practice!  My best penguin score is 72 so I better go get busy if I'm going to beat you.

Go for it!!!  My best Penguin is 88.  Guess Tam has us both beat!!  I will get to work in earnest now!!!  The challenge is on.

Okay.. today my Wii fit age is 47, which is -5 than real age, so I'm gaining on it. That one foot balance is still hard for me.

My best penguin score is 92 today.

I'll post again after I try the slalom. My head feels very heavy today so I stopped after about ten minutes.

How are all of you doing? Comon.. let's get some ages and scores posted!!

OK all you young smarty pants ..... when I get on the Wii Fit tonight, I am going to try my darndest to beat 102 ..... without falling off the board, of course.  LOL

How in the world did you get your insurance to pay for it?!?  Actually, I never thought about trying since they wouldn't pay for my hearing aid!!!

Question:  is the Wii Fit Plus worth the money?

ARRRR!  My highest in the penguin game is only 82.  I don't know HOW you are getting so high.  I thought I was doing pretty good when I hit that!  I will keep trying.  Now I have a score to beat.

My best score in slalom skiing is just around 1:00:00 (I'll write down the exact time next time I am on, but I know I haven't broken a minute yet because of penalties for missing the flags.  That one is tough!)

My best score is in the one where you drop the balls through the holes (forgot the name) and that is a 99.  I can clear all 8 boards on the beginner level.

Post by: Tamster on January 05, 2010, 04:51:50 pm
Okay now you really have set a challenge.
I have never cleared all 8 boards even on the beginner level, so I'm sure I've never gotten as high as 99.

Next time I get on I'll try the marble one, and the slalom one and see how I do.

For what ever reason I really stepped back last night.  Only 44 fish!!!  I guess I will probably starve that old penguin after my surgery!  Forget the skiing!  They put all those gates in my way on purpose.   Tonight will be better.  The penguin is hungry.

LOL

This morning my Wii age is 58 or +6. I couldn't stay on the board to save me.

My penguin score is 95. My slalom score is 43:06.

Got too seasick to try the marble one. ... will give that a go later in the day, but I know that one is going to be hard.

Whew, Tam!  You're fierce.

It said I was 50 today!  (real age= 31).  The tests it used were weird though, and I didn't figure out what I was supposed to be doing until a lot of time had counted down, so I choose to ignore that.  Haha

Penguin= 96 (watch out, I'm getting better!)

Ski Slalom= 43.21 (only missed one set of flags this time)

Balance Bubble= 982 yds

I didn't do the Marble Table game today either, but I might go back and try it later today since that seems to be the only one I can win.  LOL

Clarice

they paid around half of cost of Wii Fit as a PT and vestibular retraining aide ... they won't pay for BAHA or conventional hearing aide for hearing aide for hearing ear that I am losing hearing in ...

as to if the Wii Fit Plus is worth the money ... it has better tracking of aproximate calories burned and time spent and the kids love it ... if nothing else it is a destresser... I think it was worth it ...

note ....... I was at Movie Gallery yesterday and saw a copy of the Fit Plus on pre-own shelf for $9.99 ...it had been checked out , tested and personal profiles from previous owner had been deleted  and it's guarenteed for as long as you own it ...actually better terms than Walmart gives you ...I have bought preowned DVDs from them and only one that I had to return becasue it started skipping ... just something to keep in mind ...check out rental places for good deals on preowned games for Wii ...

High penguin score 88 ... my oldest has a score of 190  >:( ... if I ever break 100 I will be happy ...I can't get through the bubble maze at all ... I have cleared both the first marble maze and the advanced one but don't know what the score was ... and that is one that the kids can't get ...

OK, took the plunge yesterday and bought the Wii Fit Plus.  Thought it only appropriate to start with the snowball one.  Tried out the multiplayer feature ..... that was fun.

Not tellin' my Penguin score!   >:(

Tried again last night.

Age - +14, really weird test this time.

Penguin - 56 fish, he still is pretty hungry!

Marble tilt - all 7 in beginner!

Bubble - 976 yards.

Hopefully this gets better when I am a postie.

4 weeks post op & finally had nerve enough to get back on the WII!!!  My age was 48 -12!!  Still unbalanced!!  The penguin is definitely starving but I could do the obstacle coarse & island bike better that before.  There is hope for the penguin!!  Hopefully will be able to feed the poor thing soon!  Feeling OK - Wonkey Head sometimes!!

Happy Trails,

Add me to the list of Wii Fit Plus owners, just picked it up the other day. I haven't really done much with it but I will post up some baseline scores befor surgery and then some post-op ones as soon as I am able. I would never have thought to get one to aid in recovery if it wasn't for you folks!

Thanks!

Hi Lynn,

Hope you have a nice time in sunny Fla. I'm so glad that you are feeling well and got good reports from your doctor. I'm doing well too, 8 weeks post op. Still wrestling with balance issues, and now have a metallic taste on the right side of my mouth. It's strange and annoying at the same time. How is Kiwi doing? When is her surgery scheduled? I hope the magic scarf sees her thru.

Just wanted to say hello.

Take care, and keep getting stronger.

Hi Everybody,
I just got a Wii and am thrilled with it.   I am trying everything:  most like the Yoga and Bowling and really helps the kinks in my neck!
