NF2
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:52:43 pm »
Hi Everyone

My wife was diagnosed with NF2 last year.  She has 5 tumors two AN and three shwanomas.  MRI is showing growth in one of the AN.  Last year it was 1.8 and this year it is 2.4 we saw lots of doctors and some told us Surgery is the best option and the others said radiation.  Is there any one with NF2 on this forum and if so what kind of procedure they did.  your input is highly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello
I have NF-2 and had a successful surgery on one. Deafness and vestibular loss were the outcome of that translab procedure.
The other remains. I have read NF-2 mediated ANs are more radiation resistant. That may be controversial.
We are currently watching this tumor and I have it MRId every 6 months. Treatment often causes the greater damage, UNLESS, the tumor is large enough or situated in a place so as to jepordize a persons life.
I hope this helps a little in your decision making.
