Drug research programme - where do I start- please help ?
« on: July 05, 2009, 12:21:41 pm »
Deep breath here
Basically the Bio 30 project is going well (tumour suppression through medication ?)
and there are calls to move the project onto a proper, formal, medical drug trial
(basically it has to be proven beyond doubt exactly as all the other pills are)
- but how - the maufacturer is small, the charities here are on very low funds
and the medical establishment very sceptical
and full trials cost - and real money
I am not asking for your money - I need ideas
If any out here have experiance of causes, fund/awareness raising
or "public issue" type campaigns
how did you do it ? what works ?
Please advise
Best Regards
Tony

We in USA&UK, 60 of us, are part of an "unoffical" trial to shrink/stop tumours
- by medication alone. No surgery, no radiation, just medication.
Its going quite well - but it will need to be redone through official channels
- as advil was  no doubt tested 5-10-20 (?) years ago
Its the process by which things are tested I am stuck on
- how do you get one going ?
- without any money ?
not easy.....
Best Regards

Hi toni,

This is very interesting. Someone asked me if there are any medications for shrinkage, and I kind of laughed, I said for a tumour, not that I know of and probably not for a long time. This is the first that I have heard of it here in Canada. I am not really sure what you are asking, but maybe you can discuss this with the people that are providing the research treatment. Do you know if this is being offered anywhere else? How would someone find out about this?

Tony,
You may want to start here, http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/default.htm , to find out how the FDA approval process works in the US.  Good luck.

Thanks everyone
basically the product is not a drug - its a healthcare supplement
- so no massive drug company in the background to fund the research
Yet if is ever going to be taken seriously by the state healthcare
or medical authorities, or charities etc - it will need to be proven in formal trials
best regards

Tony,

As a naturally occurring food, it is already approved for use, so the FDA won't be involved (in the USA). I am curious what other supplements have done to try and establish a credible basis for use as therapy. Can you think of something else out there that has already accomplished this? That is where I would look for what to do next. It seems to me there are also some university programs that are interested in identifying and documenting natural remedies. It is an odd thing about the system, but it is difficult to build up interest in finding out just how much we might be able to do with what mother nature already has to offer.

What is the supplement your talking about? I am taking a number of supplements and have been feeling pretty good. Presently W+W I am waiting for my next yearly MRI in Aug. before I say anything. If it remains stable I will post all that I am taking and doing. Thanks, best wishes, Mickey

If you look at the references around the avastin trial you will see the results
from a formal human trial on NF2 - very encouraging
(but only 6 patients - once again NF2 defeats by mere statistics ?)
Only negative, avastin is being quoted at $90,000 per patient year
The Bio 30 health food supplement is supposed to work on the same
principle - but would cost nearer $300 per patient year
On early review I would say that the avastin is more potent
- quicker reacting, but with more side effects
It is the Bio 30 that Iam pushing for a formal trial
(Id have thought cost and availibility alone would be reason enough)
