Whoops, that was a quite a shutdown. More information about what happened as we find out the details. Something about a server crash.

It looks like they could restore Thursday night, but we may have lost Friday. Can we get a mulligan on that?

Steve - OBTW -

I see some comments about the 'new' website, and don't know much detail on that.

Will we be notified when they attempt the transition?
Maybe my experiences aren't good with this sort of thing - i hope it all goes smoothly!

Steve

Giving the mulligan! :)

System wide crash that affected many online sites, not just the ANA home and forums.  Crash occurred early am (EST) hours on Saturday and restored as of 1am EST today (Tuesday). Steve, great to hear your voice after such a long time (me thinks it was the sympoisum, at last check).  We did lose posts created as of December 03, 2010, 02:32:58 AM EST, so anything posted after that through time of system crash has been lost.

MAJOR kudos to all the moderators as everyone stayed on top of the situation and kept everyone informed of updates/communications for ETA of site being restored.  Unknown reasons for system crash (ie: hardware issue, spambots flooding, etc) but multiple sites that the server host company handle were affected.

I do have through major sources that the new server site will (hopefully) occur within the next month, fingers crossed.  Final tweeks occuring now.  Sit tight for further updates. I do know that a seperate forum for "Events/Meetings" is to be created, for all those requesting it in the past.

Whew ..... glad we are back up and running again.  Not a good time for those AN friends who are struggling with emotional issues right now ...... and depend upon this forum for a major portion of their strength.

Like Sara, I initially thought it was the change of servers but when it was down more than a few hours I thought there had to be more to it.  When they do change servers I hope it is seamless after this major event .....   :-[

And, yes, it is very good to "see and hear" Steve again.  I really missed his insightful comments and quirky sense of humor!

Clarice

..... and Sue, so glad you emailed me!  I enjoyed our "chats."
