I wondered that myself.  Good job, Sara.

The hat looks great on you, Steve and I'm very glad that Sara chose a nice blue to go with your eyes.  I just don't think pink would have worked well on you  ;) 

I hope you don't expect all of us Steve-original recipients to knit you a hat though!  I technically still owe you a drink for mine - since Catherine from Accuray paid for yours in Chicago.  Catch ya in Cincinnati  ;D

I asked Steve some time ago about his favorite color, to which he responded "blue," so I already had blue in mind when I came upon the Fair Isle pattern. Navy and taupe were the colors suggested by the yarn company, and I liked the two together. It reminds me of khaki pants with denim shirts, which is a combination I like.

Jan, I don't think Steve expects a hat from all of his recipients. Just think how long it would take him to wear them all even if he chose a different one each day! However, your comment put me in mind of a post I have been intending to make.

A Louisiana girl named Maggie Lee Henson died two weeks after being injured in a tragic bus accident as her youth group was traveling to a camp. Her parents are encouraging friends and family to perform an act of kindness on October 29, which would have been her 13th birthday. Their original goal was 1300 participants, but already more than 13,000 people have committed themselves to an act of kindness. There is a website at http://www.maggieleeforgood.org/ with more explanation. I do not know this family personally but learned about Maggie Lee through a Caring Bridge site for a little girl in my community who suffered a spinal cord injury last January 2. I admire the Hensons' way of celebrating their daughter's life.

This is a GREAT thing - there have been videos and spots on Clove about this.  I was praying for this little girl as one of my friends on Facebook, who lives in our town, had gone to college with the parents and is good friends with them.  They sound like a really neat family and I love what they are doing in her memory!!

Diagnosed 1/14/09 - 2.4cm AN right side --- about 70% cycstic
Retrosigmoid wiih McKenna & Barker - total removal successful on April 13th. 
Issues: balance, facial & mouth numbness, hearing loss right side
Results:   numbness gone, balance is good, SSD right side. Great results.

I agree that Steve does look quite nice, but let me stress that he does not have competition. Not only am I certain that everyone would prefer a Steve original, but my only intent was to share a little joy with Steve, not to compete with his acts of kindness.

I do need to thank Steve for inspiration for Christmas gifts for all of my college-age nieces and nephews -- loom-knit hats from Auntie Sara in their school colors! My nephew plays soccer for New York University -- the NYU Violets. I ask you, what kind of team name is that? I suppose it could be worse, though, like Pansies. Or Kewpies, like a high school in Columbia, MO. I kid you not.
