MRI mix up maybe?
« on: December 09, 2008, 03:45:23 pm »
OK, so I see the neurosurgeon and we tentatively pick March 31/09 for a surgery date. Need to confirm with ENT. Anyhow, looks like booger hasnt grown. But then he says, "looks like you had an MRI in 2003"...and I'm thinking NOOOO...I did have a scan of some sort (same type of machine) at my hometown hospital when they thought there was a possibility of bleeding in the brain, but I thought that was a CAT scan...Anyhow he opens the MRI up as it has my name on it to compare the scan....NO TUMOR back then but is it my scan?????  I've no idea as I dont remember ever having an MRI before 2008.  I am so confused now....I'll be seeing the ENT tomorrow and I will ask him about that other scan.  so stay tune to see if I'm losing my memory or it was someone elses scan.

Hi Jo,
Thsi is just amazing -- I'm sure if you had an MRI before you would remember -- it is a memorable experience  :o  I hope your ENT can shed some light on things for you.

Best wishes,
Wendy

If it were me, I'd ask the neurosurgeon where the MRI in question was taken (in-house, or taken elsewhere and mailed to them?). The MRI report should state this. Then check to see what date you were first registered at the facility where the MRI was taken. If the MRI date is before the date you were first registered, then it would appear it's someone else's scan.

Best wishes,
Tumbleweed

Well the ENT couldnt find that scan that the neurosurgeon saw...so it had to be someone with the same name.  Like WOW..Anyhow looks like April 7 for surgery date. I have lost all of my balance in the left ear, so he told me balance wont be an issue after surgery....so now I need to concentrate on Xmas holidays (son coming home from Afganistan tomorrow and other son from out west coming home on Monday) then my Mexican vacation and Florida vacation...Then I'll think about the surgery..that will only leave me with a week to focus on Booger
