sore jaw on AN side! Anyone else????
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:48:42 am »
Woke up this a.m. with a sore jaw on AN side...just when I bite down...Is this common??? I know some of you discovered your AN via a visit with the dentist. Its amazing how every little ache and pain on AN side gets us thinking. Also the numbness is back on that side of face as well...It went away for a few weeks...

Sounds to me like your tumor is upsetting the nerves of your face (the trigeminal nerve?).  If you haven't already, you might want to call your treating physician to keep him/her in the loop.

I agree with Arushi, sounds like it is near your 5th nerve responsible for feeling. That is how I discovered my tumour, my face was numb, came and went then stayed. Don't panic just let them know you have this going on.
Good luck let us know how it goes, you are not alone.

Hey Jo,

I have never had any numbness, but do have jaw pain that comes and goes on the AN side.  I also have a tooth that I have not been able to bite down on for months...dental x-rays show nothing wrong with the tooth...

Take care,

Cindy

Jo,

My facial neuroma has caused many problems with my jaw and teeth.  Actually it will two years Dec I had a root canal on the left side where my neuroma is located and I found out last year from Dr Rutka, it wasn't necessary.  As I type my teeth are aching.  There are times when I feel like I've gone several rounds with Mike Tyson.  Putting face cream on and foundation can be excruciating.

Oh the joys of neuroma :'(
