Do you want a good laugh?
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:52:39 am »
Dear Everybody,

A good laugh can make us forget our troubles, it is with that in mind that I recommend you view this.

Enjoy all!

I realize that this has nothing whatever to do with AN  but if you are in need of  a good laugh check out the Colbert Report 7/15/13 Naming the Pilots on YouTube.

The piece is about 3:08 minutes.

Sophomoric humor.  Apparently the San Francisco TV station was 'punked' by a summer intern at the NTSB who 'released' the fake names that mocked the Chinese language (the actual pilots were Korean) and caused the federal agency and the local TV station (KTVU San Francisco) to look like fools, which, of course, was the intent and what makes it funny.

I wonder if that NTSB intern will be putting this on his resume?   ;D

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Everybody,

This piece of real  life poked fun at-- tells us one thing that laughter--- especially poking fun at ourselves should be done more of!

I, for one have had my fill of disaster. This was a silly bit but it makes us smile........even the most stoic among us! That was the point, to relieve of us of individual worry and make us roll on the floor.

Look for ways to smile and laugh (even if you can only smile with one side of your face as can I). Stop and smell the roses, go out and live your life!

If you spend too much time researching, I have found that the research becomes tedious. You have too learn to take some time, and then you can come back to it later.

Take me for example, in 2004 I spent a whole summer researching AN and the consequences of it. It drove everybody nuts with how obsessed I had become! The result was that I closed my pool without even  swimming once that summer!( In my youth I had been a competitive swimmer.) Who was the loser? I was! I lost forever the summer of 2004! I can look back now and say this was foolish!!!

Needless to say don't do this to yourselves newbies! At whatever treatment stage your at, take time for yourselves! Of course, all of you have one thing that I didn't have (way back in 2004), the knowledge that this ANA board exists. We are here for you (online anyway)!

Had I known of all of you perhaps I would have been less stressed! All of that is water underneath the bridge it is past now! Have confidence that life is worth living , that you have been blessed with a chance to slow down and take a breather! We are together now, we are stronger for it.

Sometimes,  even the reality shows get a little too serious! Lighten up! Laughter IS a stress reducer!

Prayer is a stress reducer just as meditation is!

Now everybody can go back to being super worried and serious!

Stressful times produce stress ridden behaviors! If one can learn to destress more the world would be a better place. For example, in 45 states it's 95 degrees! Cool off swim or soak in cold water relax.... The weekend is almost here!

I think this thread is appropriately titled for consideration as a continuing joke thread.

To that end I submit the following:

A Priest and a Minister were arguing about which one of them bore a close resemblance to Jesus Christ. Along comes a Rabbi and they ask him for his opinion. He laughs and says "Neither of you. I'm the one who looks like Jesus Christ and I can prove it." They, of course, challenge him. He takes them to a nearby massage parlor and knocks on the door. A scantily clad young woman opens the door, takes one look at the Rabbi and says "Jesus Christ - are you here again?"
