I just found this video and thought you might like to watch it.   It says like my neurologist said that if you respond positively to the nerve blocks, then you are a candidate for the decompression surgery:

I don't respond to the blocks, but the pain doc at the Wash. Hospital Center said the blocks I've been receiving are not to be counted since they were given in the chair.

Hope you find this video helpful.

Mei Mei .....

I know you have struggled so with headaches and I so wish you could find a permanent solution to them.

This may or may not be related but in 1994 I had microvascular decompression surgery (via retrosigmoid approach to the brainstem) for very successful treatment of my excruciating trigeminal neuralgia.  Prior to that my life was not much worth living with the horrible electric shock pains in my face that were unrelenting with any medication.  I never had another pain after waking up from the surgery.  I did have terrible nausea for 48 hours post-op and it took about two weeks for the headaches to diminish, but no more sharp pains ever again.

It was most likely a weird coincidence that I developed an AN on the opposite side from the trigeminal neuralgia.  Interestingly I had no headaches or face pain associated before or after the removal of the AN in 2008.

Many thoughts and prayers for a solution to your ongoing headaches!

Thank you, Clarice for your kind words of support once again!
It's indeed going to be hard for me to wait these last few days to meet Dr. Ducic.   I have never responded to the nerve blocks so am not hopeful that I am a candidate for surgery since he has said that response to blocks is an indication for surgery.   The other doctor said that my blocks were not properly administered so I don't know and the suspense is very exciting!

It was interesting to read of your Trigeminal surgery and then later not having any side effects from the AN surgery years later.   I can't help but to wonder if the previous surgery set you up for no headaches after the AN surgery.   It is an academic thought but might be a good topic for a thesis.

You definitely are an interesting case, Clarice!
Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you so much, Cindy.   I wish you relief soon too.   I'm worried about your dizziness.   You should feel better after the ablation.  I hope you are seen by the doctor this Monday.
Hugs,
