Single Sided Deafness and Hot Flashes ....................
« on: July 12, 2006, 06:48:30 pm »
Hello to the Ladies that are old enought to know what I am talking about (and you guys that live with the ladies):

It is a well known fact that stress causes hot flashes.  When I can't hear someone in a loud situation I must get stressed and don't realize it until...........WHAM......hot hot hot!!

Is it just me or has this happened to anyone else?  Seems that I just found another side effect of my ex-AN.

Umm, not hearing related hot flashes but definite heat intolerance!!

I have heard from a lot of people that neurosurgery messes with your hormones.

I've been complaining all day about being "hot" and I dont' mean sexy hot either  LOL  I've wondered if it has something to do with hormones.

Me too Batty >:(

Kathy - Stress and anxiety definetly increase the intensity of my hot flashes. I started doing accupuncture to help alleviate the flashes, have not noticed a difference yet.

Unless you've already passed through the window and your flashes have returned, I'd say you are just at the perfect age, 52, to have lots of hot flashes.  Best remedy I know is to change your body position, and remove any extra clothing, blankets, ecetera.  This too shall pass!  ;)

Hello, KO, my friend!

I get hot flashes when I am stressed, and then my nose starts to run, left side,  AN side only.  I hate it!  I don't think I am quite old enough for the "change" yet, but who knows.

I still don't have total hot/cold feeling back on my right side yet, so I don't understand whats going on.

Well i guess thats another thing, i have to get used to...... :-\

I had my rather large AN removed 7/28/05.  I have severe balance problems, dizziness and once again hot flashes.  My PCP put me back on hormones, they don't help.  My physical therapist said that I have panic attacks.  My psyciatrist gives me more drugs and no solutions. I can no longer drive at night because the headlights of the cars, both oncoming and behind me cause severe headaches and panic attacks.  Driving during the day is a challenge also.  My therapist (physical) says I don't have periphiol vision and if new glasses don't help he will have to report it to the State and no more driving for me!  Before I had my AN removed I had perfect hearing and no noises in my head.  The only reason an MRI was done was because I fell a few times and hurt myself.  Since the AN was removed, I have broken an ankle, dislocated my shoulder twice, sprained both knees, and both wrists and always have bumps and bruises.  The noises in my head are so loud I cannot hear at all if there is background noise.  I am frustrated and so is my family.  I want me back.Let me know if your hot flashes are hormonal or panic related!  Good luck to you.

I passed through the window a year ago last April when I had a hysterectomy.  The night sweats have gone away and I am very grateful for that.  The ONLY problem I have with them now is when the back round noise is so loud
I can't hear myself think.  I don't think they are panic attacks - more like angry cuz I can't hear my customer over kids screaming attacks in the lighting showroom I work in.

I love kids,  just can't do screaming ones anymore.  Kathy

ps:  bummer about the wine!!  My sister-in-law has a glass of wine every night before bed and her night sweats and hot flashes went away

pss:  Batty - you are such a nut.  Lotso nuts on this board..........
