Sheryl Crow ... also made a statement saying that you need to monitor your body routinely for tumors because once you have one there is potential for more to "sprout" up.

Unless she is NF2, I just can't see that happening.

FWIW, my dermatologist (who is a skin-cancer specialist) told me the same thing. He said that theoretically, if you have had one tumor, the statistical risk of getting another one (or several) is higher than that for the general population. It is by no means inevitable, but the risk does indeed increase (at least according to this skin-cancer specialist). Because I have two brain tumors, he was more aggressive in removing suspicious-looking moles elsewhere on my body.

Best wishes to all,
TW

When I was growing up there were no cell phones.  When I was about 11 years, we finally got a telephone.  I didn't come in contact with cells until many years after my 3 ANs had been surgically removed.  Regrowth occurred twice because a piece of the tumor root had been unobserved in the misshapen auditory canal.  I was born in 1937.
Dec., 1967: remove baseball-size A N left side.
Feb. 1968: 7/12.  June, 1968:temporalis transplant
Nov.1987:remove AN regrowth. Nov.1991:remove AN regrowth; 1993: Discover new AN on right side.  Watch & wait.
Annual MRIs since then. 2002: enlarge auditory canal.  3/'12  survive  run-over by car.
