Hi Everyone,

I spoke to Doug (DLM4me's husband) yesterday while they were waiting for her to be transferred to a private room. He said she was doing great. Since she had a middle fossa and her hearing nerve was preserved, the docs tried some basic tests to see exactly what she could hear on the AN side. She was able to hear all the sounds they made on that side, but they'll know more after any swelling goes down.

He said she had a very slight paralysis, which she described as a "novocaine feeling" that made it a little difficult to sip out of a straw -  but she was in great spirits, laughing and joking around.

Sounds like she's pretty happy to be a postie. :)

Nancy ~

The good news just keeps on coming!  Thanks for the update.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Great news!  Keep the updates coming!  That's great that she's doing well and it appears that her hearing was spared.  Pass along that we're thinking of her and continued healing.

Brian

Okay, if she is over the surgery and doing pretty well, it is time to ask the question that is on everyone's mind.

What does DLM4me really mean? I think it sounds like the license plate of an inveterate card player, myself.  ;D

And best wishes to postie DLM4me, too.

Fantastic news!  Wow, so many great surgeries the last couple of months eh???  Hope that gives people awaiting their surgery date a good feeling!

Everyone is rocking it!
Right sided AN 2.7cm at last MRI.  Hearing loss/facial numbness.  Translab scheduled March 11th 2009.  Translab at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia successful!  Total tumour removed, SSD, no facial issues, numbness has left the building, balance issues but they'll get better and I'm loving life!

Hi All,

I spoke to DLM4me this morning and she sounded great. She does have some facial weakness, which the docs say will be temporary, and she was a little surprised by some double vision last night and this morning. But she is extremely upbeat, and very relieved to have finally been properly diagnosed and have the surgery behind her.

She appreciates all your support and well-wishes. (K - you cracked her up with your hokey-pokey comment. :D And Steve, I found out the origin of her username, but I'll let her tell you herself.  ;))

She may be going home tomorrow, so hopefully you'll be hearing from her sometime soon.

I can't wait to hear what DLM4me means - I've been wondering since she joined us.

Glad to hear she's going to be going home soon.

Thanks for the update, Nancy  ;D
