SoundBite for SSD
« on: July 16, 2010, 11:11:43 pm »
I came across this info on an experimental device for SSD.  Just thought I'd pass it along.  Hearing through your teeth.. who knew?

2 cm right-side AN, diagnosed July 2006
Cyberknife at Georgetown Univ. Hospital, Aug 2007
Swelled to 2.5 cm and darkened thru center on latest MRI's, Dec 2007 and Mar 2008
Shrinking! back to 2 cm, Aug 2008
Still shrinking (a little), I think about 1.7 cm now, Aug 2009

jb ~

Thanks for the link.  The article offers a very concise explanation of acoustic neuroma and SSD.

The Soundbite device has been discussed here previously.  This thread form 2009 is one of many you'll find by typing 'Soundbite' into the search function box.    http://anausa.org/forum/index.php?topic=10753.0

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Wow! That's a long thread.  It was all new to me, but I shoulda known you guys had it covered!  I still have some hearing in my AN ear, but if things get worse maybe the Soundbite would be an option down the road.  Good luck in the trial, Carolyn!
