Hi there - I was told no straining for 6 weeks, I would geuss that went for lifting too...   so I'd say at least 6 weeks.  Best wishes,  Nancy

My docs said not to lift anything over 10 lbs for 4 weeks.  So, I'd say wait at least 4 weeks; 6 if you can.  But I'm no doctor.  Maybe you should call yours.

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

This is what I was told, too.  Made it difficult to get my then 18-month-old in and out of the crib/high chair/etc.   ;)

I'd say keep your lifts at the limits the surgeon set until a second post op visit or phone call.  When you start do lifting or straining, stop when you feel any pressure in your head.

My GP wanted me back on a weight lifitng program to strengthen my bones.  But when he said "start with a 50 pound weight and do reps each morning",  I just laughed.   I only weigh 122!  No way would I lift that much starting out.  Sometimes you have to wonder!

Whatever you do, you have to take it easy.   Read Yvette's post in the post-surgery forum.   She started weight lifting and had a CSF problem....
