Facial Twitching
« on: September 08, 2016, 06:04:45 pm »
Howdy, all!

Quick question. I am 7.5 weeks post op from trans lab and started experiencing some facial twitching today on my AN side. The cheek will just start twitching. Is this normal? Not much on google about it outside of it being a symptom before surgery. Anyone else experience this before? Thanks all! Appreciate it!

Do you have facial paralysis? If yes, facial twitching is a great sign. If not, I have no idea. Sorry

My surgery was 11 years ago and I still have it as well as double vision and lightheadedness....among other problems. But then, I got hit pretty hard. My tumor was the size of a golf ball. I'm lucky to have gotten out of it as well as I did. Great doctors at Mass General!

I believe this is referred to as: Hemifacial spasm.

Was the facial nerve damaged during surgery ?
Google "SYNKINESIS"
I had facial physiotherapy with some relief, I was bad though and didn't keep up with it
1st AN surgery @ age 23, 16 hours
Loss of 7-10th nerves
mulitple "plastic" repairs to compensate for effects of 7th nerve loss
tumor regrowth, monitored for a few years then surgically removed @ age 38 (of my choice, not medically necessary yet)

I'm just shy of two years out from GK, and lately I've been getting these facial twitches quite a bit, plus certain muscle issues- mostly with the eye on the same side as the Little Bastard.  >:(
