Somebody knit me a hat!
« on: October 17, 2009, 07:52:23 pm »
Not a request, but a statement of fact. Sara knit me a hat!

It actually is really nice to receive a new knit hat in the mail. I think I will stick with it. :)

Steve~

WOW!!  What an awesome thing - I could try to knit you a hat but you wouldn't be able to war it!  I actually thought of you the other day when I went to pick up the People book at the library.  They are having "Learn to Knit" classes and you get needles, yarn & a canvas bag - it looked to be FREE!!  It is on the same nights as Addi's basketball practice though so I don't think I will get to do it...also, it seemed that it was just once & I KNOW it would take longer than that to teach me to knit!!

Steve ~

Nice hat!  You deserve to be on the receiving end (of a knit hat) for a change.  Kudos to Sarah for her initiative - and her knitting skills.

Confession time. Technically I did knit Steve a hat, but I made it on a knitting loom. It is a much faster and easier method than using needles, even with the two-color pattern. I know this because I am able to knit with needles, in fact I have a wide assortment of needles and patterns, just not the time or patience to do it any more.

For Steve's hat, I used a Knifty Knitter Adult Hat Loom (http://www.provocraft.com/products/detail.php?cl=knifty%20knitter&scl=looms&cat=&item=21-0435) and a Fair Isle Hat pattern from Lion Yarns (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60416.html?r=1) that I adapted by adding a brim and knitting more rows to accommodate an adult size. Instead of Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick® yarn, I used a double strand of a basic acrylic yarn so the hat can be tossed in the washer and dryer.

I'm glad Steve was able to share the experience of getting his own hat in the mail, but now I am stepping back out of his venue. I can't wait to learn who gets the red hat!

Kay, I can paint my own toenails too, but I still enjoy a pedicure every now and then.

Besides, how else was I going to get Steve's address so I could send him his own hat?

Steve --

Great hat and darned nice of Sara to knit you one.  You do truly deserve it after all the hats you were kind enough to knit for others.

Enjoy it!

Wendy
