It would be nice if they did find a way to get rid of tinnitus.  Maybe someday.  Thanks for the link.

I read the article earlier this morning. It sounds interesting. I am going to mention it to my ENT when I see him on Monday.

Interesting article.  Question:  how can you tell if rats do or do not have tinnitus?????

Not so sure I would want vagus nerve stimulation until many, many other studies to check for side effects are done.

I'm with you Dr. Sam.

BTW, is that your personal or your medical opinion?

a possible new treatment would be nice,  but I agree,  there is no way they could know if a rat had tinnitus or not,

I just heard about this on Jay Leno last night.  I was wondering, also, how they know if a rat has tinnitus.  I do hope they do a lot of studies with those people in Europe and find a way to stop it.  Mine isn't too bad.  Mostly during the day, I don't notice it, but often in the evening, when watching tv, it gets quite loud.  :(  Mine sounds like a high frequency sea shell noise.  I try to ignore it.

Tinnitus Causes isn't a condition by itself. It will be the side impact or the soon after impact on the other malfunctions in our body. Learning the root trigger of pulsating tinnitus would be the complicated component.

Sandy mentioned her T being similar to that ole seashell noise.  Sure, I've compared the two also.

I think when the lab techs see rats holding seashells up to their ears .... the small shells of course .... they assume the rats have the big T.  How else could they possibly know ?!?!?!    ::)

Joe .... I went back and read that article .... wow!

The concept of rebooting the brain somehow bothers me.  Michael Kilgard says, "We are returning the brain from a state where it generates tinnitus to a state that does not generate tinnitus. We are eliminating the source of the tinnitus."

Returning the brain to a previous state also bothers me  :o

But next to the top of the article, under the heading Lifestyle, are several links that perhaps have a connection ..... the electric Chevy Volt .... and Vodka.
