Getting your head examined
« on: March 17, 2006, 06:30:01 pm »
Whenever I have to have an mri, I allways say to people "I have to get my head examined today".  They kind of laugh, and I laugh with them.  I bet they think "how can she joke about something like that?"

There was this couple who were doctors on St. Croix--he was a neurologist and his wife was an OB-GYN.  We called 'em Heads and Tails!

I think it's funny when I go for the mri and they insist I use an ear plug in my deaf ear.  Maybe they don't fully understand that deaf means you could blow a horn in my ear and I won't hear a darn thing, what makes em think the mri sounds are any different??? LOL

After my surgery when I had an MRI they got upset as I refused to put the ear plug in as that side of my head was still so senstive.  Like you said..DUH can't hear so what does it matter they made it sound like it was life or death..then ask..what type of music would you like...  lol

So far, in the last month, out of the groups that I've told, I've had one friend react with brain jokes like you guys do here.  And I have to tell you that was the best for me.  I realize I tell people then brace myself for their reaction and what they need to make it OK, and this once, I didn't have to do it, and it was SO NICE.  Of course she hit me with plenty of validation and concern too.

I made the MRI brain comment...I've made it several times when I show people to make them laugh and make it easier for me....one gal at work thought it was just the coolest to see my eyes.  They are pretty freaky on MRI's.  Hey....a new Halloween decoration....hmmmm.....

At my last MRI I told them I didn't need the other earplug.  Cann't hear out of so it seemed pointless.  I didn't get any music choice this time either.   :(  The best part was the fact that they didn't know what to do with the gold weight in my eye.  They asked me if it was pure gold.  I had no clue.  So to test it out the technician had me walk closer and closer to the magnet.  Guess she waiting to see if the magnet would rip the gold bar out of my head.  LOL  Nothing happened so we continued with the MRI.  Guess it must be pure gold.  I didn't even remember the titanium mesh in my head.  :-)

Not just titanium mesh.  I got it covered with bone cement.  (Whatever that is.)  Didn't take out any belly fat, though.

No belly fat?  Darn, I was hoping for Translab just for that!!!  I have some to spare!!!!

Captain, did you see they were blowing up pirate ships today????  I hope none of our relatives were aboard!!  Linseed oil...do you have any?  That's a good one.  I love linseed oil.  Unfortunately I switched to watercolors and chalk pastels in my later life, so no more linseed oil.   :-\

Yes I'm an artist too.  It's scary how much we all have in common.  I need to check out your wares on the frappr, but my home computer is too darn slow.  Will check later at work.

I go to a  Neurologist next Mom.  He's real enderstanding.  We talk about memory problems, the consentration problems and all the little nagging things that are left over from the tumor.  He really does'nt do alot for me but I get disability and I am so afraid that this could be taken away and this Dr. said he will represent me if this occures.
