Good things...
« on: October 10, 2005, 01:17:32 pm »
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to post my latest news and see if anyone else has ever had hearing returning. I saw my ENT and my eye specialist last week and boy oh boy...did I get some great news. First of all, my eye is beginning to tear again. I still cant blink completely without some effort but, my eye now has complete closure on demand.
Secondly, my hearing test shows a return of low frequency hearing. I thought I was hearing a few things before but decided it was just my wishful thinking. I also have movement in all areas of my face  :o This is really a great esteem booster for me...remember..my tumor was on my facial nerve??? The docs told me I had total and permanent paralysis?? Well, evidently they were wrong. Right now I am sooooooo happy that I have been doing a "wobbley" happy dance!!!
Has anyone else here had the return of hearing? If so, how long till it comes all the way back?

congratulations.  I was very happy when my face began to move again.  I'm sure soon you will have the eye blinking away it's all a matter of time.

Excellent news about the hearing.  That is truely good news.

Great news!  :D

In all the research I've done, I can only remember one other time somone's hearing improved, which was after radiosurgery.  You're a pioneer (or should I say pion-ear!).

Laughed about your 'wobbly' dance, which describes my dancing at its best.  It'll be interesting to see my celebration dance after surgery - probably look like the 'Alligator' scene from Animal House.

Hope the improvement continues - thanks for sharing!

3.5 cm right AN.  Surgery 11/7/05, modified translab.  As recovered as I'd ever hoped to be.
