Thanks guys! Seems like I must be quite sensitive to Decadron. I have been on it for 5 days and feel awful! Depressed and blood sugar levels all over the place, which is very unlike me. And all of this is pre op! I think the doctors are changing me over to another steroid tomorrow so maybe that will be better! I hope so anyway as I have at least two months to wait until surgery and 2 months of this would do my head in!

I think many people have trouble or weird things happening while on Decadron.  I know I had terrible nightmares, and even while awake, I would smell this horrible, horrible smell.  I was very glad when I took the last one...it is, apparently, wonderful and necessary stuff, though :P

10 mm x 2.4mm surgery date 12/03/07

I think a total of 4 weeks for me, but I probably could have weaned a week sooner.
Left side 1.7 cm AN diagnosed 7/30/08
Misdiagnosed for 8 + years
Surgery, Sub-occipital, 11/17/2008 at Indiana University Hospital
Left SSD
Tumor much larger than expected. Facial nerves intact, but had RARE swelling resulting in brachial plexus injury and tracheostomy after surgery.

I was on prednisone from the late 60's till 1990 for my Crohn's.  I am now in osteopenia.
1.2 x .6 cm rt side AN diagnosed July 2005

I was on prednisone for two weeks after surgery but still had some temporary paralysis so the doctor put me on it for two more weeks, slowly taking me off of it. After that, things were fine. I wish you the best. Ann
