Can ANs go away all by themselves?
« on: November 17, 2009, 01:03:43 pm »
Hello fellow ANers,

Just wondering if these things ever just shrink or go away on their own?? I keep thinking that when I go for my pre-op testing in Dec that it may have shrunk or just be gone...poof! Is this possible or just wishful thinking?

Bren,
Some of the people who have chosen to "watch and wait" find that their AN has not grown significantly over some period of time.  And the average growth rate usually reported as about 2mm per year, which again is an average.  Growth rates can also change over time for the same individual.  There is also some variability of measurements between MRI scans, so for a slow growing AN's it can be hard to tell if it's actually growing in, say, 6 months or a year.
But unfortuantely I haven't heard of many, if anyone, that reported that their AN disapeared on its own.
Regards,
  Rob

Bren... for me.. that has to be the $1Million question in this AN journey. How I wish they would......... but to my knowledge... the answer is no (and maybe, someday in the future, the answer will change and become "yes")

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

Thanks Rob, Phyl, and Jan! I kind of thought that might be just wishful thinking  :(  but thought I'd ask anyway! Thank you so much for your helpful replies :) Have a wonderful day!
