Increase in dizzyness lately...
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:13:43 am »
My AN is now 1.4 cm, my docotr said its about to completly fill the IAC...the past wek or so I have had a few dizzy episodes that left me feeling nausea...they last maybe 30 minutes and then I go back to feeling normal..(whatever that is ))lol
Why could this be happening all of a sudden, anyone experience this as it grew ??
It could be caused by AN right ??

Hi Tatianne..... I hope you are feeling better!  Yes, I guess the AN could be causing it.

I had a really bad weekend with some dizziness and migraines - but I have been fighting a sinus cold for about a week now - so I am sure that is what is causing my symptoms.  I know EVERYTHING that happens to me now - I want to blame on the 'buggar' - -

Again, I hope you feel better!
- Oct. 16/08 - 12 hour 'blob-ectomy' at LHSC in London, ON - Dr. Lownie and Parnes
- Some internal facial numbness (cheek, tongue, eye), SSD, headaches (getting better), dry eye, some balance issues..... but othwise AWESOME!

When I was diagnosed my AN was 1.5 cm and I didn't have any issues but fullness in my ear and diminished hearing.  My AN also grew quite a bit between my MRI and surgery (almost doubled in 6 weeks) and I never experienced dizziness.

But that doesn't mean that your AN couldn't be causing your dizziness.

I'd check with the doctor.

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I was just diagnosed with a 1.6cm X 1.6cm AN and my chief complaint is dizziness, headaches, and ear "fullness", "noises" in ear.  I get a bit unsteady at time because of the dizziness.  Some days are worse than others.  I take Meclizine for the dizziness.  I take it before bed because it makes me VERY tired.....unfortunately I am usually very tired the next day as well and the more tired I am the more dizzy I am.  Feels like a viscious cycle right now. I find that the less I am able to focus the more dizzy I am.  I have more trouble at night when it's dark and when I am driving.  I too get occassional bouts of nausea with the dizziness.  I would suggest asking your Dr. for something to treat your vertigo.  I have two smal children and work around 50 hours a week, I think if I had more time to just sit,  my meds woudld help more.  ;) Best of luck to you.

thanks girls...

Melissa, I have three children and work about 45 hours a week so I know wehre your coming from ( and im a single mom)...

Ive also been having increased achyness in my AN ear and my eye keeps twitching on that side, maybe its having a growth spurt or something, or pressing on some nerves a little more then before.
I will call my doc if it continues and see what he has to say.
Thank you everyone

Tatianne....I have the eye twitching, cheek twitching alot as of late....I always tell myself it's stress.....best mention it to my doc I suppose. Are the twitches realted to the AN?  I thought mine was fairly small in size and maybe it wasn't affecting anything facially....maybe I'm mistaken and should mention it ASAP to my doc.  I'm being shuffled around to docs right now as no one in my area (Toledo, OH) can/will treat me.  Still in holding mode....All I have is a confirmed diagnosis.  Hope to see someone who can help soon :)

The eye twitching thing is new to me, its been happening for the past couple of weeks and I have been under a great deal of stress and I as well have been thinking it was stress related...
I dont recall anyone else here mentioning eye twitching as a problem for them but you never know. Anyone who experiences this please chime in anytime !!!
I know how overwhelming this AN thing can be, its a lot to take in at one time..
and has caused me a lot of anxiety...however the evidence is here on this forum that we will get through this bump in the road.
It must be difficult not having a good specialist to consult with...did you think about sending your MRI to house for a second opinion ?? Is it possible for you to travel to see a more specialized doctor ??
I hope and pray you will have some answers and comfort in those answers very soon.
Keep in touch

hi tatianne,

i started experiencing spells of dizziness shortly after i was diagnosed in july 2007.  at first, all I had is some facial numbness, which i started feeling around march 2007.  in july 2007, i was diagnosed with a 2.5 cm AN.  in late july and august i started having dizzy spells that would last an hour or two, sometimes more.  i was treated august 22-24 with cyberknife.  in the few months after treatment, i had acute episodes of imbalance due to the inflammation caused by the radiotherapy.  but thankfully, the worst of that seems to have passed.  now i have a lingering but overally pretty minor issue with balance, and i am expecting that will continue to improve over time.  i'm very pleased right now with how i'm feeling.

when i began having balance episodes prior to treatment, i contacted a neurosurgeon and was told the episodes would continue to worsen until the tumor was treated.  in your position, i would certainly advise your neurosurgeon of this new balance symptom.  generally, i believe you are better off treating your AN at a time when you are having as few symptoms as possible.

best regards,
francesco

I get eye twitching occassionally too.  I think it's stress and sometimes fatigue.  Had it before the diagnosis too.  I too seem to blame everything on this AN!
Hope

Happens to me too - and started long before my AN was diagnosed also.   Stress and fatigue usually bring mine on.
